I don't think it has been mentioned that Jason McCartney (former weekend presenter of Calendar) was elected an MP. He stared at the camera - freaked me somewhat.

So that's two Calendar alumni in the Commons

Is this a first? Hull are doing their own thing for the "A History of the World" documentary strand rather than being a shared programme with Leeds.

Indeed, there would have been three if Julie Kirkbide had not sood down at the General Election.

There are three. Austin Mitchell was re-elected. Smile

Ah right - thought Anna Soubry had done a stint on Calendar for some reason. Blonde moment!

Anna Soubry was on Central News, until 1995-- she then became a barrister with KCH in Nottingham. You'll sleep easily tonight, knowing that!

How many OB units do Look North Leeds have? I've noticed a few times that when they have several lives within a programme that one of them looks really poor, whether it's because there's a bad or badly lined up camera on it or because of something to do with the link I don't know.

Unfortunately that's the one they've sent to Bradford for today's programme.

ways and means.

satellite truck, plus there are inject facilities dotted about, plus there's a smaller multimedia van that's being trialled, plus of course there's Hull's sat truck which can be used, and indeed manchester.

sometimes when a satellite van is being used, you may not be able to book the bandwidth that you may like, so the bit rate has to be reduced on the link. This tends to result in compression artefacts that are made much more visible If the image you're trying to code is 'busy', ie lots of details which is changing a lot.

Audio also takes priority, as it's better to have clean sound with poorer pics, than good pics with garble.

hope this helps

Have I just seen Vicky Locklin doing an advert for Carpet Right.

What a shame she has to do this sort of thing.

Having said that though, former BBC North West Tonight host Stuart Hall was on the advert straight after, so it's not unusual for regional presenters to turn to advertising!
