After a Lincolnshire-centric show yesterday, nice balance with tonight's show.

Jenny Hill reported on the government grant given to assist schools in Hull and North Lincolnshire, visiting a Hull secondary school. Helen interviewed the area's Educational Director in the studio.

The second report featured a live O/B from Paul Murphy about job losses at a factory in Salt End near Hull, with the Manager of the factory.

A studio interview conducted by Peter with the Managing Director of Humberside Airport formed the bulk of the next article, featuring the loss of another holiday air route at the airport.

Next was a report into the controversial use of Taser stun guns by Lincolnshire Police. Then, another report from Lincolnshire featuring the disappearance of two teenagers; one from Boston, the other from Butterwick.

Then the weather, with fish-related map placenames, selected by me. Forecast for my area last night was spot-on fog and temperature-wise.

The paper reviews follwed, then a studio interview with 'crooner' Tony Christie. Finally, Helen Philpot covered the upcoming Beverley Fashion show to round off another good programme!

I don't think I will - I'm not breaking any forum rules and I'm being informative! After all, you never know who might be reading this!

i don't want to sound like a party pooper, but where, exactly, have all these months of gushing praise got you so far katherine?

enthusiasm is one thing - but, the line between enthusiasm and slightly scary is a thin one, and if its crossed, your credibility in the eyes of bbc north may suffer.

Well, it's got me some contacts that have given good careers advice so far, and a couple of mentors. Good, considering that this time four years ago I didn't really have a career focus in mind.....

It's also gotten me on an advert, partially fulfilled the 'reading the news with Peter' ambition and informed me very well about where I live.

id hazard a guess that your contacts are merely people who are replying to your emails or talking to you at OBs, not people impressed by your far from objective or technical appraisals of the show.

Katherine - I am just curious, do you seriously wish to pursue a career in television news? (If so, doing what?)

If you are, I don't think 'boycotting' a major employer like ITV is a good idea, particularly since they have some very good trainee schemes in the regions still in existence. Check out www.itvjobs.com - it's a helpful site - look under the 'traineeships' section. In recent years YTV (yes you heard me right) has run a number of excellent schemes on both the editorial and technical side.

If you were serious about working in television, you would, like most others who end up with a career in the industry, open your mind to a range of newsrooms, employers and indeed locations.

Not so much television news, as nobody would want to see me have an epileptic fit on air! More so print journalism and/or radio work, either locally or nationally. Maybe webmaster of the company's official site. I've an eye for detail and a good writing style. Not forgetting of course I have to accept the various social communication limitations that Asperger's Syndrome gives me.

I'm a volunteer on my local hospital radio station and have been there for one year. I've done broadcasting and library work such as library computer record updating and playlist compilation, along with fundraising and ward rounds collecting record requests from patients. I've recently had training regarding operation of our new 'Patientline' entertainment system. If I'm good enough, perhaps backstage television support work like Broadcast Assistant or Runner. I've no grand aspirations!

OK well good luck in that. I am sure you have something unique to offer. But I do think you need to be a TAD more open-minded when it comes to broadcasting.

Ooh, late-night Look North has just had a report from King's Lynn about a Winter Vomiting Virus speading throughout their main hospital! Tonight's teatime also had a report from Leverton near Boston about a street in the village that had illuminated their houses in a Christmas way for charity... good night for the south of the region...
