Is it just me or is the lighting/racking in the Leeds studio a bit poor?

The transition just now from Phil Bodmer on a live OB from inside a building, where the picture was very natural looking, with natural looking flesh tones and a very crisp picture going to Harry in the studio where everyone's face is slightly orange (particularly Harry's close up camera)

It's just the glow from Christa. Wink

Seriously though, the lighting in the Leeds studio is bloomin' awful. I've noticed of late as well, the picture often looks a bit over-saturated. I wonder if they've tried to compensate for the gloomy lighting by trying to brighten up the picture, but it doesn't look nice.

The tacky set, washed out and blurry projector screen, and poor lighting really does Look North a disservice. I think it's a fairly decent programme, but I don't think any other region looks so poor on screen.

I wonder if the Leeds studio is due for a corporate-style revamp soon in the style of Hull and Newcastle. It really could do with it. I'm always amazed at how good Hull looks, both in terms of set and lighting.

I think something like Newcastle's 'soft area' could work well for Leeds...

That would be great, but I'm not sure how flexible that would be for redressing for The Politics Show, Superleague Show and Late Kick Off?

It works quite well in Newcastle...

That does look good! Although their studio is much bigger than the Leeds one of course.

Indeed, Newcastle has the largest studio in English Regions, it being originally built to production studio standards. I agree that set works very well.

Two rare sightings tonight:

Gaynor doing the main Calendar tonight - much better than the usual Friday stand in Kate Webster (she is awful)

And even more rarer - Peter Levy stood up tonight at start of LN

I'm curious here,
I know that people watch the tv programs quite intently, and spot things that even the production teams miss sometimes. Presumably quite a few have never actually been in a tv studio, or 'behind the scenes' at a TV station.

What would you do, or go and see, if you had a day in one?

Indeed, great to see her escape the morning shift for once! Gaynor also did yesterday's programme and the post-News at Ten bulletin as well. If anyone didn't see her last night, she's presenting tonight's late news as well... Smile
