Good to see Look North and the National News sharing OB positions today in the snow. Danny Savage was reporting for network from the same spot Harry is in now, and Christa seems to be in the same place as Jenny Hill has been through the day.
Paul Hudson made a live appearance on the News Channel this morning, and as part of a recorded Danny Savage package on the One O'Clock, with a "BBC North Climate Correspondant" aston.
Interesting that Penny Bustin's run down of the travel situation seemed to be from the second gallery used for Breakfast opts. Strange choice of location given that it appears from the gallery screens that the main studio was lit and had somebody (probably Ian?) sitting in it waiting for the OBs to go down.
Other screens showing a weather forecast being recorded/live for Hull (looks like Keeley but it's very small), the very dark rooftop camera, autocue, presfax, ENPS and what looks to be a cartwall type system but may be for controlling video.
Looks like Look Levy has returned to the lowest common denominator of content once again - it was doing so well of late too!
Tonights epic... a garden centre owner who could not understand why the snow had prevented customers getting to his business - or was this piece of cheap publicity the price we have to pay so that Philip Norton and the crew could get a free cup of tea & a bun?
Have to say have been pretty impressed with Look North - Tuesday, Wednesday and tonight they have been live on location for the whole programme with Christa in one place, Harry in another and (for the past two nights, though not tonight), Paul in another. Quite an operation I imagine but it seems to have gone fairly smoothly!
Leeds just failed to opt for the 8pm on DSat. Hull managed to get on air.
I suppose that's sort of event that ensures the survival of the annual tests about re-transmission capabilities for each region/sub-region so enjoyed by some members on here.
No matter what broadcast platform, they try to ensure that people aren't left with a blank screen for very long.
