It was confirmed tonight on Calendar that Emmerdale is to move into the main Yorkshire TV studio, which will get a £5mln facelift. Presumably Calendar will move in too?
Its been on the cards for some time. I'm sure it was discussed on here as it was pointed out that YTV's (it will always be Yorkshire Television ) lease on Emmerdales old car showroom was due to expire & they didn't need the old ice rink anymore as Calendar is only 1/4 of the size of the old operation. No one could understand why they would want to rent somewhere when there were purpose built studios and offices next door. It's very good news for Leeds.
A very good edition of Calendar tonight I must say with Gaynor broadcasting live from the Lincoln Christmas market. She is completely wasted on those GMTV bulletins!

Christine and Duncan didn't mention anything about a move from 104 Kirkstall Road though?

From what I understand Calendar or whatever replaces it will need to move from its present location. Depending on who provides the local news for YTV will determine where it goes, though they are looking for other companies to rent space. The detail in some of the print stories is contradictory & ITV have been faffing about for ages over this and other important decisions. I prefer to believe something when I see it happen but this looks as though it is going in the right direction.
It says in the MediaGuardian report that Calendar is uneffected and will stay in it's present location.
Out of all Yorkshire's various buildings besides the main building, the Calendar building is probably the most attractive to keep and least attractive for anyone to buy due to its location right across the road from the main studios.
Those other buildings further down the Kirkstall Road access road would probably be better moving and have greater resale value.

I missed the start of tonight's Calendar - are there new titles and music?
I rather like the yellow look for Calendar. It reminds me of the old YTV corporate colour scheme. I think a couple of nice big yellow chevrons on the set would finish it off perfectly.
Noticed this weekend that the Prospect Centre has finally removed the Yorkshire Television signs and Chevron signs from the old YTV shop. I guess that was the last outpost gone.
Still the old Sheffield office I think...unless that has gone too?
Nope.....it's still there!
Calendar are no longer in Charter Square but elsewhere in the city.
On the face of it, Radio York are going to be moving in with Radio Leeds (or maybe already have) whilst their aging MKIII studios (which apparently keep falling off air) are refurbished, with the Harrogate and Scarborough studios making a greater contribution than usual.
