Yes a couple of years ago I would have agreed with you, but gradually the content has improved, the new set has made things look far more professional and actually it is a more newsier programme than Leeds these days. I do have reservations still about Levy's interviewing, but that aside I think that Leeds viwers may look at Hull's programme with a little envy

Funnily enough when a Breakfast bulletin from Hull went out recently instead of the Leeds version, my boyfriend (who's not a pres geek like me) did comment on how much more professional it looked, and how it looked "like the national news".

I agree it looks better, the point is that since I live in Yorkshire I would like to have the news from Yorkshire, it is my region, my local area - that is the point of regional news after all.

But I would imagine you're fairly unusual in wanting a news service covering areas further away from where you live.

To be fair that wasn't the point you were making in the previous two posts - more of a slate LN Hull - a region that isn't your local area it seems

What we are agreed on is that we want to watch regional news from OUR region!

Is it just me or have they got new seats in the Leeds studio? They look much better than those awful padded seats they brought in a few years ago - they look similar to the seats from the original set when they moved out to St Peter's Square.

Not sure if the glass desk is the same as before or not.

The sofa changed back in April, along with a tweak to the titles and backdrop. There was some discussion on page 404 of this thread. I believe the old seats now adorn the BBC Leeds coffee bar. Smile

I think it's a shame they didn't do more to change the set, as it still looks one of the worst of all the BBC regions, and just has a cheap kind of media studies studio feel about it. Something along the lines of what they have in Hull would have been great... although how easy it would be to redress something like that for the Superleague Show I don't know.

From what I remember, the coffee bar is just around the corner from the studio, so I guess it's a sensible place to keep them during the week... just as long as nobody spills their espresso down the front of them!

Were there two separate sets of the chairs, or one set with different coloured covers?

That's my whole point, Leaving aside the dubious production standards in Hull, Living (partly) in the East Riding I don't get the news for much of the region, its for Hull & Lincolnshire - no mention of events in towns and cities where much of the population work or consider local.
