Slightly random question...

Anyone know what happened to the second projector screen in the Look North Leeds studio? I'm sure there used to be one on the right hand side of the set, in front of which Claire used to do her morning bulletins when they first moved to the new building. Are they now using that part of the studio for something else? A CSO position??

Well its out, the latest mad cap idea from those wasting your licence fee in ULL

You can now download Levy to you satnav via the BBC Lincolnshire website. Yes, this is genuine Confused

Not satisfied with opting out of journalistic reporting we now seem to wasting our time with pointless cheap gimmicks.

Be warned if you leave ULL the thing will get hopelessly lost as viewers will appreciate from the so called reporting, nothing exists outside ULL Laughing

We just had a 'regional announcement' on ITV1. Shocked

Nothing exciting really, just a plain old recorded "[insert film name here] is starting later on ITV2, but now on ITV1 Yorkshire, 'The Way We Were'...' etc etc. How long have they been doing this then? Whenever I've watched the Thursday 10:40 regional programme, the continuity announcement has just been a bog-standard plug for a later programme and then the start of the programme.

There was a second one but it was taken away when they changed the set to the current sprawl of sofas look rather than the round sofa and odd desk they started with at St Peter's Square.

Where it went I don't know - it's nowhere in the studio now!

That part of the studio is simply part of the current set-up now - the new set is larger than the old one, though the studio really isn't very big at all!

They do all the green screen stuff (including the 8pm update) from the weather office/studio.

Wow, it hasn't COMPLETELY died yet. It's better than nothing, I guess.

Yeah, but if they can be bothered to pre-record a regional continuity announcement at all, why not do one for the 6pm regional news programmes? Just a networked sequence with different annos for different regions like they did the night I wrote that message. Seems odd how it goes straight from an ad (or trailer) into the opening titles of the bulletin.

Ta for the info.

I'm surprised that the current set is bigger than the old one. It looks so much more cramped now than it did when they first moved to St Peter's Square - possibly because all the sofas are right up against the back wall which gives it no sense of depth whatsoever.

The revamp to the set in the spring improved the look a bit, but I do think it remains the nastiest looking of all the BBC regional sets. Even BBC Channel Islands makes better use of their small space.

Not really, seeing as the regional news title sequence contains not only 'ITV' but also the name of the region..... well, except for Yorkshire.

What's the point of an announcement telling me I'm in the westcountry when the programme following is called WestCountry Live?

There's the point of branding ITV1 for a start, and providing some separation between the ad break and the programme.

Plus, most announcements tell you what programme is about to start, seconds before the titles tell you the exact same thing. Why should the regional news be any different?

I can't understand the lack of ident at 6pm either. Even if they just used a generic announcement promoting Emmerdale as being on in an hour

I get the feeling it is just something nobody has noticed, they dropped the regionally announced ident but years later the lack of any ident is just the norm

Look North Leeds now - a painting exhibition on the theme of Paul Hudson. It's just wrong.
