Indeed, should be fantastic. They said something about famous faces returning for tomorrow's edition of Calendar, so hopefully we'll see people like Geoff Druett, Mike Morris, Marylyn Webb, maybe Bob Rust doing the weather. We'll get Austin Mitchell regardless, judging by the fact that he turns up at every YTV anniversary going! Hopefully we'll see a chevron introducing the bulletin as a one-off, maybe even the old Calendar theme (the 1980s - 2004 one). Just a shame Richard Whiteley isn't here to see YTV turn 40 - but to be honest I don't think he could stand what's happening to (what's left of) the company now. In fact the 'trailer' they played for it on tonight's 6pm programme seemed slightly emotional to watch; seeing the hustle and bustle of YTV staff, the once-busy Kirkstall Road studios, and Calendar presenters like Whiteley, Druett, and Webb.. all combined with the song "Those were the days, my friend". Makes you feel sad in a way!
BTW did anyone see the Calendar late bulletin? Who the heck is this new reporter called Nicola? (Not Nicola Sands) She sounded so unprofessional that it was unbelievable. Didn't speak loud enough, read from a poorly-written script, and sounded like she was some randomer from off the streets...

It looks set to be a good edition of Calendar tomorrow to celebrate Yorkshire Television at 40!
Lets hope for a pan regional programme - Christine, Duncan, Gaynor and John all together.

Guess who was on a Look North VT this morning talking about Michael Vaughan's resignation as captain of the England cricket team? Oh yes, good old Mr Turd... obviously too much of an early start for our Dickie. I wonder if Look North have VTs with him giving his views on anything crick-EET related like any other TV newsroom has pre-packaged obits?
Oh, and Lisa Gallagher's got married and has a nice tan from her honeymoon.

Isn't it technically Lisa Corby now? As Clare said 'you're still Lisa Gallagher to us!'
No doubt Dickie Bird will be on the sofa to discuss Micahel Vaughan in more detail this evening.

Do I detect that Look North's newsroom is a little more sparsely populated than it once was? Some of the specialist correspondents seem to be taking on much more general reporting, such as Alan Whitehouse doing a report on recycling and Tanya Arnold did a piece about the The Apprentice a few weeks ago.

I guess there must be a few people on holiday.

He's a very well respected transport journo, who also writes books and articles - he my be freelance now.

I never understood how Alan Whitehouse could find enough work being 'transport correspondent'. How often is there a transport news story?

Doesn't he also report for North West Tonight, so it's likely that there could be a story in one region when there isn't in the other.

Very strange cock-up just happened on Look North Leeds.
A pre-recorded item with Mrs A about insect infestation started playing, but it seemed to be an out-take, as Christa ended up saying "sorry", the VT ended and then it cut to Ian and Christa on the sofa...
And now it's gone into meltdown... but Mrs A and Ian are holding it together well, and the right version of Christa's pre-record is now going out.

If it had been live, as it bloody well should be, such a cock-up wouldn't happen.
To be honest, I'm getting fed up of being "deceived" that material is live, as you would think it is on a live programme. I don't mind it being pointed out that it is pre-recorded, for example when a presenter says, "a little earlier I spoke to.."
