Some celeb personality was chasing Paul around the studio on the end of friday's Look North (Leeds) - rather amusing to watch plus Ian's reaction!

Ah, that was Duncan Norvelle, a comedian popular in the 1980s for being camp.

Who also stated that he has a missus, so it's really just an act.

Which makes me find his act somewhat offensive. Maybe they could continue the theme of guests pretending to be a minority stereotype with someone blacking up tomorrow.

Oh hang on, they've already got Christa. Wink

Laughing

Duncan Norvelle was deeply offensive to many when it became generally known his "act" was to lampoon effeminate gay men.

"Chase me Charlie, me bum's made of chocolate" was undoubtedly his "finest" hour.

Look North Leeds are launching their own official Facebook group - but at present I can't find it on the site.

Ian White gave the new group a bit of a plug on the lunchtime bulletin, adding that there may be some old title sequences for those presentation anoraks - cheers Ian! Smile

Bit of a cock-up with the start of Look North tonight, all the VT clips wouldn't start when needed, and the titles played out prematurely and by the time they should have kicked in, on-screen the "Look North" end title of the sequence appeared. And it seems that they are still having VT problems as the show continues.

And it seems the story of the train disruption near Drax, which I'd have led on if I was editor, isn't as important as a "good news" report from a hospital in, you guessed it, Leeds.

And would Christa please stop rolling her tongue on camera?

The Drax live report from Jenny Hill also feature on Look Levy.
It too was well down the running order in the second half of the programme. It followed far more important news that Small is to stay as Mayor of Wetwang - oh joy Pale

Didn't see it, but is it possible that if Mr Cockup was in residence the running order was determined partly by which bits of VT were likely to work?

Didn't see it either but the Drax story was certainly the main headline at 6pm for Look North - and it was the lead story at lunchtime, so I'd guess Steve's right.

That's a good point. If they were plagued with technical problems then I suppose the running order is dropped and they play out anything they can. On a normal day I'd have hoped that the Drax story would be the lead.

Good to know that Paul Hudson is still going to be Mayor of Wetwang! I wonder if he'll turn up to events in the town this year?

There was a brief comment on tonight's Calendar that there is likely to be extensive features celebrating '40 Years of Yorkshire Television' this summer Jon Mitchell is on the search for weather memories to feature

I expect all the usual clips and guests will appear, Austin Mitchell, Bob Rust etc. it'd be nice if some from the 90s and 00s were featured rather than the usual look back to the 70s and 80s. It'd be nice to see Mike Morris again

By the way, looking on itvlocal, it seems Friday's early Calendar was one version across both parts of the region

It's a shame we won't get the same level of coverage of the anniversary as we had for the 30th, with special idents and presentation. I wonder even if we'll get any special programmes.
