Yes. It was very interesting to watch... notice how there were no Calendar logos up on the screens behind them (I didn't see any. Makes sense really, when you think about it, with most of ITV's regional news studios looking identical anyway).

Did you all see Carolyn on tonight's Emmerdale, there was a bit of behind the scenes, with Zak and Lisa seen entering the Calendar studio

Has anyone noticed that Look North (Leeds) seem to always bring name astons up as an interviewee is answering the *second* question? (unless it's a very short excerpt). Can be a bit wierd not knowing who the interview is and what the relevance/context of their views is.

Some funny decisions made in ULL this week regarding output not to mention accuracy - tonights non story (one of many) featured our intrepid reporter live from Fridaythorpe on the highest point of Yorkshire wolds with a snow report - and got cut off 10 seconds in - returning at the end of the programme with the same prattle. Sadly not only was it piddly poor shot - snow in the dark isn't much of a picture, it was not the highest point either. What was wrong going 5 miles up the road to Garrowby Hill with its rather more dramatic views? Whilst they are doing that they might give the poor journo some facts to report rather than wing it with nothing of consequence to say.
Contrast this with a story regarding yobbo's throwing stones at fire engine on one of ULL's many chav estates. Rather that going into the community they go 3 foot out of the front door in Queenies Gardens and 'go live' to our reporter in Hull
BBC ULL - no style, no jounalistic ability , no originality, no idea!

The sign on the studio door said 'Calendar South' though

Funny you should mention that, Calendar sent Jon Mitchell up there-- for authenticity you could say! He valiantly did a live OB on the inclement weather in heavy snow/wind, as well as a pre-record broadcast from earlier in the evening at Garrowby Hill
Meanwhile Paul bravely stayed in the studio-- well we wouldn't want him catching a chill would we

Thing is if your only on duty weather forecaster is in the middle of nowhere and the OB goes down, during a period of bad weather when the forecast is very important, you're knackered.
If Jon's OB had failed there are other presenters doing forecasts for Granada, Tyne Tees etc who could have stepped in.

On London Tonight recently Robin Lermitte was stuck in traffic on his way to somewhere or other (the camera and sat truck was there, but no weather presenter...) so they played a forecast he had recorded before leaving the studio, which seemed a reasonable compromise in the circumstances.

Yeah, good point. However his actual broadcast was pre-record, just his dialogue with the presenters that was live as far as I could tell
