Oh goodness me, has poor old Yorkshire got a bit of a flood again?

I suppose it'll be like last time; Hull gets three pints of water on the floor and we never hear the last of it.

Gloucestershire gets totally submerged, with people actually killed, but we're supposed to shut up and forget all about it.

IIRC at least three people died in Yorkshire last summer. It been on the news because it's totally unprecedented weather. I don't think Yorkshire recieved any more coverage than anywhere else at all. In fact it was the westcountry and south midlands that were the focus in latter half of the summer.

Yes I've noticed that Fbk group too! Cool As far as I'm aware it's the only concrete telly transmitter in the country; Emley Moor has a certain amount of prestige, since it's the tallest free-standing structure in the UK. It also can be seen from around 110 miles away on a clear day (from Moel Fammau), so it is certainly a prominent landmark.

Presume you mean Moel Famau in Flintshire at SJ 161626 (554m )

That is only 117 *km* from Emley - bearing 064/244 True

The Emley tower was briefly featured on Calendar yesterday, with Jon Mitchell being blown around the base of it by the wind. He said it was too windy to actually go up the tower.

I think Calendar, is to appear in Emmerdale next week, with Zak and Lisa appealing for Sam's return on the programme.

Will she be doing her "I can out-Fiona Phillips Fiona Phillips" act or will she be portrayed as a serious journalist?

It would be more realistic if they had someone from Look North to give a bit of balance - then again, it would probably mean the Tango lady.

Yeah Moel Famau on the Denbighshire/Flints border. And Emely Moor, which is a different place to Emley itself of course Wink

Fair cop-- I was approximating using a road atlas. Clearly a bad guess:lol: .And for some reason I typed miles instead of km-- I blame Napoleon.

The only programme they watch on Emmerdale is Calendar. They have John Micthell's weather forecasts on loop I think!

Clare announced this morning that there would be a special look back over the history of Look North this evening. I didn't catch which anniversary it was (bit sleepy still at the time), but expect some vintage footage... and probably a package made by resident pres enthusiast, Ian White. Wink
