but I am alone in thinking that the show has improved 110% since they banished all the showbiz/celebrity/book-plugging/panto sh ite which has dogged it in recent years?

You're not, I totally agree. Wonder if there's any chance of a return to double-headed programmes.

You will be glad to know that normal service is resumed from next week as Peter will be back on the sofa.

Once again, I have enjoyed my stint presenting Look North and I would like to thank everyone who has contacted me during the week. It will be back to the day job for me as Political Editor next week, and what a week it could be with the possibility of an election announcement. Although as I speak, the polls are showing a "Tory bounce" - making it very risky for Gordon Brown to gamble on calling a general election.

Christa did the Great North Run with Carol Vorderman, Kathryn Apanowicz and Richard Stilgoe last Sunday, maybe she's had a week off to recover.

Seems that Jenny Hill has been off this week too, hence Danni Hewson has been on the sofa this week.

Did you see the non-story about Graham Norton on Look North last night? It turned out to be a plug for the BBC1 show Who Do You Think You? later in the evening. Thats not news and shouldn't be allowed to be on the news shows. The BBC are getting worse for this
