Which is? " Cove -Num"? "Cuv-Ern- Ham "? Or what?

I was suffe... listening to Radio Lincolnshire just before 5pm for a change. How long has "weather hunk Paul" been playing that silly guess-how-old-people-whose-birthday-it-was-yesterday-are game?

I think Rachel Philips must read this thread

On Calendar's late news on Friday she came out of a report with "Strong words, indeed " stressing the indeed like some sort of in-joke

Laughing The Levyisms are spreading, mark my words. A sort of sub-Orwellian regional newsreader Newspeak.

"Thank you very much indeed" has spread to BBC EMT as well as Central News East and if I hear it on Calendar as well, the game is up Wink Or it could be all those joke emails about Peter Levy I have put into mass circulation. Oops Wink

I bet on Calendar they pronounced the village of "Covenham" ( in Lincs) correctly, unlike their BBC colleagues in the Forgotten/Foresaken City.

That's what you get when you put a nicey and smashie type radio presenter on a so called news programme., 'its 10 minutes to seven, thanks for being there, coming up on the programme....

Its basic local radio training from the 80's - That was, this is, Coming up in the next half hour. Given this is the school hols and so any prospective journos' don't get Levy's bad habits this might be of use.

The basic training in interview techniques for a Journalist (which Levy isn't) involves asking a leading question such as 'Tell me about...' or 'Can you explain...'. An absolute no no is asking a question to which there is a yes or no answer and even more important you only EVER ask a question to which you already know the answer. That way if they lie you have got'em. Never ask two questions in one sentence. Therefore 'Its just not good enough is it really is going to get a Yes or No.

A couple of Levy's interviewees have come out of the studio utterly stunned commenting that no only is he rude but incomprehensible.

The Levyisms are spreading thick and fast now; one even made it on Breakfast this morning!

Sarah Campbell had finished a quick interview with a hotel landlord about patio heating before saying 'strong words, indeed' with a huge smile on her face.

Well Levy's luvvies have been pronouncing it Cove -en-um. My sources reliably inform me that it is "cuvven-um" or just "cuv'num"

Trivial I know, but it does tend to annoy people locally Laughing Not like we expect LNH to know basic geography beyond Barton-upon-Humber or anything Wink

"Strong words indeed" on Breakfast News Pale Maybe it's some conspiracy to annoy us TVFers. Will Paxo be saying "it's acceptable/good enough-- there's the camera talk to it?" next.

Maybe Huw Edwards will start addressing Darren Bett as "young man", whence emails from students and old dears will be read out about amusing Huw sightings across the country.

Hudson in the Hull studio for the weather and a chat about his programme tonight.

Unusually, the programme is also being carried on the radio. The announcement was a BBC London-esque "on television, radio, online" and it's being billed as a Look North news special. The titles were crap, based on the BBC One swirl, but the rest of the production seems fine so far.

I wondered why Lisa was covering for him again on the Leeds programme

It was Harry and Jenny also, due to Christa doing the Inside Out special

Double dosage of Small, more time for banter, the same tired gags about Wetwang. Was it me or did that suit seem too big on Paul Laughing Least they "threw it open" to the punters tonight, just for a change.

The Levyisms have spread to Coronation Street now Laughing We had a "it's good enough" from both Blanche and Leanne in one episode!

This "Levyism" business is becoming tiresome now.

These things are being said in everyday language, not as a consequence of anything Peter Levy once said.

I'm not exactly the show's biggest fan, but people are looking for things now which just don't exist. Give it a rest.

Yes I am aware that Coronation Street's scripts are hardly going to reflect what some obscure sub-Partridge regional broadcaster has a buzzphrase-- I'm not that thick thank you Smile

It was just meant to be a little fun not meant to be taken seriously!! .

However, the Levyisms are possibly getting little tiresome now-- maybe he should stop saying them for our sanity Laughing .

If you really are finding the Levyisms tiring, it's probably not a good idea to visit this thread is it? Wink
