A story over on DigitalSpy is that Martin Kelner has parted company with BBC Radio Leeds

Apparantly he last appeared on Thursday and will therefore no longer be presenting Drivetime or his weekend late show (which I believe also broadcasts on certain other stations in the Yorks&Lincs network)

It isn't clear if he walked or was pushed

A great shame. He's an excellent broadcaster, although I'd put money on him coming back eventually. He always does.

In the mean time, I must send them that demo tape I've been preparing. Wink

Martin has been quoted as saying that he has no comment to make at the moment but may tell the story depending on where his future lies. I'll leave you to make your own inferences on that.

So the main story tonight, Coffee Controversy - Coffee Shop opens in Hull without planning permission. Shocked

And a terrible interview in the latest round of Levy vs Council man, this has gone beyond parody.

Dear Leave it to Levy,

A Major broadcaster has allegedly opened a coffee shop/ internet cafe/drop out centre in BBC Queenies Court open centre without planning permission. Please can you speak to the management and get an answer?

Thanks Peeta

Mrs T. Roggles, Ezzle Roaaad, ULL.

Well its not really good enough is it really, I mean, well there's the camera what have you got to say to our viewers? I'll take that as an apology then.

The council conveniently looking the other way on this one & nothing to do with the BBC / Hull City Council Big Screen debarcle Exclamation Strong word there strong words Razz

Come to think of it where in the BBC charter does it say the BBC must provide a coffee & biscuit cafe service to Hullites? What a tangled web the BBC weave Confused

Even interviewees are taking the p*ss out of LNH now. Paul Hudson was interviewing some tourist promotion officer on Bridlington Beach. He was going on about how Brid had been rengenerating itself etc.

This bloke then quipped: "The only problem with Bridlington is that we get Peter Levy and Look North Hull". Everyone's a critic Laughing

Another logistical c**k up this time over the election reporting for Look Hull.

Now they have never been very good at journalism at the best of times particularly when it comes to politics. However they got themselves a political editor after severe & withering critisim over the last election coverage.

So one of the biggest stories predicted was, for once, in Hull where the LibDems could take control of the rather Labour militant council. For the first time ever Look ULL have all the resources in the right place at the right time. A £24 million production centre, equipment, staff the whole caboodle - so what happens - they base the election reporting and political editor in Lincoln Mad

Result - The East Riding Council for the first time in its history has one party in control, Cameron celebrates the fact that he has won control of a Yorkshire council, Look ULL hardly a mention, The big Hull story makes the national news with Prescott doing a stately Prescott style interview and they miss it all prefering to report from a sports hall in Lincolnshire and interview someone call Spratt

Just what is the point of these people Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

In fairness, there was a story in Lincoln as well but this was a bit of a cock-up. The Hull coverage seemed to be recorded, so I imagine they only had one truck and decided to put it in Lincoln. Given the short distance, they could take their chances with the Hull locals in the early hours and walk/drive the tapes from the Hull count back to Queens Court. Disappointing there was nothing from the East Riding count - it always seems to be missed out.

I don't know why they didn't leave Iredale in the studio - having two reporters in Lincoln so they could go live from the balcony to the floor seemed a bit pointless.

Hilton Spratt won our competition for name of the night, though.

Surprised they didn't borrow Leeds's SNG as there were no counts going on in the Emley patch, or arrange to share a Lincoln OB with East Midlands as it's overlap between the two patches.

Calendar's election special was presented by Duncan Wood in the studio with some guests and a few OBs

Look North were live from a '24 hour transport cafe' to make a point that all the counts were closed until Friday morning. Len Tingle hosted and was filling time talking to some former MPs

Lukk Nuuurth Ull seemed to have straightened its act up for this evening, in its coverage of Lincolnshire's and East Yorkshire's elections (no Norfolk of course).

Levy must be reading this thread: Two "stong words"-- and a "it's not good enough" to Paul today Laughing

And a new competition from Leeds - one "lucky" punter will win Paul Hudson, doing the weather from their garden.

EDIT - and Dickie Bird turns up with a birthday cake for Christa

Never mind that, LNL is giving Paul Hudson away in their "greatest ever competition".

Just had a report from "birthday girl" Christa Ackroyd (21 today?) on the streets of Bradford wearing a T-shirt with a photo of Paul to convince the locals to enter the competition.

Paul wore a "WIN ME!" T-shirt during the forecast.

DICKIE BIRD ALERT!
