Is there any real point to BBC Hull Live these days? Must say I feel awful for those in and around King's Lynn, who have next to no news coverage on the Beeb 'cos they can't be bothered driving over the Humber Bridge....

This may be a fairly *obvious* question from a foreigner of sorts, but just WHY does Leevy have so much power at the BBC in Hull? His Presenting style is awful and Journalistic technique poor.

It would be interesting to know the ratings for Calendar and Look North split down into age ranges. Calendar provides top quality sports coverage so probably wins the young 25-40 audience

Laughing Well said.

Of course Levy is not a trained journalist, he is a radio presenter who recreates a mid morning fluff and banter radio programme on Look Hull.
What is annoying is that audience appreciation research is showing that many people in Lincolnshire & North Norfolk are piddled off to say the least but the ratings are contantly high and are worse 8-10 percentage points ahead of CalendarSouth&East&abitofYorkshire. As far as chasing ratings are concerned YTV have spent a lot of effort for nothing - they were achieving the same ratings with the original programme.

Local TV looks as though as it is not going to happen now - certainly not at the BBC so we are stuck with half the original idea which doesn't serve much of the population.

A classic bit of Levyism tonight...

Not strictly LNH territory - LNL had Manya Arnold in a Donny pub though.

Although (and quite rightly) Doncaster's win over Bristol in the JPT was celebrated on Look North Leeds, I still feel their sports coverage leaves a LOT to be desired. Far less comprehensive than Calendar. I'm not a massive sports fan but as a well rounded chap it's always useful to keep up with how Rotherham United are doing so I don't get beaten up for being a poof in the Cross Keys. Laughing

Have noticed Look North Leeds seems to be going to a lot more "effort" shall we say to take care of the South of the region since the full time Calendar split. Don't think I've ever seen so many stories that aren't from Leeds.

I take it she has been revealed as the official cover for Gaynor on Calendar South then and has been doing all week with it being Easter?

Calendar West has all week been presented by Jon Hill and Kate Webster who are the regular cover presenters here

Meanwhile Vicky Locklin has been doing the late bulletin all week

Before all this local news sillyness from YTV & BBC (remember when we actually had NEWS in the programmes) she was the only media luvie you used to see around Hull She was based at the YTV offices in the Prospect Centre in Hull and always made her reports with that brown raincoat - she just doesn't look right without it.
Incidentally the prospect centre in Hull is one of the last places to see the YTV chevron. The lease has been up for sale for years and there have been no takers so the place remains a dusty relic of the good old days of regional Telly Sad
