Now it's been on air a few months, has anyone any views on how Calendar East is fairing, is there still a lot of story sharing? are they dumbing down to match Peter Levy?

Also has John or Gaynor had any time off yet and if they have, who presented the programme instead?

Just caught the end of Look North Leeds - and there was no sound on the links in the studio or the Paul Hudson OB on Freeview, but you could hear the sound (at a slightly louder than usual volume) on reports.

A caption kept popping up during the silent links apologising for the lack of sound.

Did this occur throughout the whole programme or on digital satellite?

Another classic Look Levy tonight, "Live from Queenies gardens".

A cringing interview with the local MEP who totally wrong footed his Leviness over a question on global warming - obviously he didn't have the answer or a follow up question and could only manage a feeble "those are strong views there"

Following recent critisism over the lack of sport coverage rather than get a sports journalist to handle interviews, suddenly he's Peter the sports expert asking questions on cards and not knowing what he is on about.

There was a pointless story which was lifted out of the local newspaper about an old RAF camp which had no story value whatsoever because no decision had been made over the camp - it was pre recorded a few days ago when the weather was nice and gave the film crew a bit of a day out.

How much worse can things get?

Well Paul's back next week Rolling Eyes

Simon Clark's occasionally been on Radio Humberside doing (very excitable, and actually rather good) Hull City commentaries as cover for the regulars, and I think he presented the sports awards. He seems to be still kicking about the place, but I haven't seen him on screen for ages. One of the female reporters was refered to as "our sports correspondent" on an OB from the KC Stadium a bit ago.

The lack of sports coverage really is poor. Despite his stuttering delivery sometimes, Clark's appearances in the studio on a Friday night to preview the weekend fixtures were actually useful. I don't know why they were dropped. Other regions manage to do it. It's also rare that they nick footage from YTV these days, at least on the weekday programmes.

I agree with regard the sports coverage on The Peter Levy Show, it's always been woefully inadequate. There is a lot going on in the region, Hull battling relegation, Scunthorpe likey for promotion, Lincoln in the play-offs but I guess that doesn't fit with the blue rinse demographic.

In terms of journalism and sports coverage, Calendar is way ahead.

The reason Simon Clarke is not on the box is the same reason that no one else is allowed to present Look Hull - Levy won't stand for it. Its his show and everyone better not forget it or they leave. That includes editors! Evil or Very Mad

There may be something to that, wasn't there some issue with having two presenters regarding the nature of Helen Fospero's departure?

I often watch Calendar South (the 'official' name for Belmont/Sheffield now I believe), and it is still the high standard that the former pan-regional 6pm show was.

Well higher than Lukk Nuuurth Ull's standards, which isn't difficult. Paul Hudson's back is he? Goodo, half the programme taken up by mindless banter Pale I wonder how ratings are doing between the two news programmes now?

As for CNW's Brum-centric backdrops, editor Dan Barton has acknowledged this problem and has put out a plea for live-cameras from elsewhere in the region to be used.

Helen FussyPuss left because she "wanted to spend more time with her family"

The editor left after about 8 months "For personal reasons"

Previous to that editor left after about 10 months "as he felt he had achieved what he wanted to"

All of the above, and quite a few others have "left" and the place has only been open a couple of years!

Spot the patten their anyone Wink

True money has been invested in several new carpets and a lot of redecoration, updating equipment (which was made redundant after the aforementioned KC episode) Levy has a new contract, Hudson gets to work on other programming - odd as he is supposedly a civil servant paid for by the Met office.

The heads of local and regional programming were moved in a strange sideways sort of way last December. Hull's HLRP moved to Leeds to "shake up" the programme (and allegedly a 'prenter issue') would have loved to be a fly on the wall at that meeting Twisted Evil
Leeds HLRP moved to Manchester to do similar and Hull gained the ex-editor of London News as the new HLRP.

There is a funny whiff around queenies gardens, just not quite sure what it is Confused
