I'm sure I remember a lot of predictions here on TVF weeks/months ago that the two new 6pm Calendars would only really have a different
emphasis
(e.g. top few stories / opening 10-mins of the programme (or whatever)), and apart from that would basically each pretend to cover the whole region, by having a lot of story sharing (particularly the seemingly less-news-rich East/South programme "borrowing" North/West stories, and not so much vice-versa).
And now, such predictions have proved to be true.
Don't write it off quite yet. Compared to yesterday's, Tonight's had more stories that were not shared

As far as coverage goes most of the East Riding (east of the wolds) can't get Emley Moor and is officially in the Belmont service area. (The ariel installers point them south) Just to be really awkward the North Wolds can only get a signal from Bilsdale.
Most of the stories on Calendar seem to come from the Sheffield newsroom. Lincoln will be next as they have a office in the University and the East riding won't get much of a look in as they just employ stringers. What a mess.
I thought I dreamed the MFI story - did Levy really say that MFI at Howden was on a hit list? do you really need explosives to make an MFI kitchen come apart?
Sorry, compared to some of the other questions raised, mine is faily stupid. But are both programmes on Calendar broadcast from Kirkstall Road? And how are the studios arranged? Are they both side by side?

I believe so. In the autumn,
Calendar
spent many weeks broadcasting from a temporary studio, whilst the "proper" studio was split in half to house the two new programmes.
It was the same story with
Central News
a couple of years ago, when they split the CNW studio in two, so that CNE and CNW could be both based at Birmingham.
Worth noting that nothing's changed in regards to my Telewest setup here in Rotherham. I still get the "North" (which used to broadcast the West programme) version of the programme on 103 and I get the new "South" version on "ITV Sheffield" on 114. (This used to be the version that carried the Calendar South opt.)
Have to say ITV Sheffield is very poor quality - it's 4:3 with widescreen programmes broadcasting in 14:9 and has ghosting - I assume this is just a re-broadcast of the analogue signal from the Sheffield transmitter?

When Calendar South first started, we use to get dedicated programmes on Friday - I can see all this ending within a year, the sub opts made more sense.
