Belmont collapsed?

Crying or Very sad Sorry I meant Emley Moor - Its the Media - its gets to you in the end, all those luvvies and bitter in fighting - and thats just the management Laughing

The last time I saw the Prospect Centre in Hull the sign still said Yorkshire Television. Not that there has been anyone in there for years.

It sums up Independant Television at the moment, grubby looking and empty Wink

So there were no local news opts from Calendar today, so it looks like we've seen the last of Calendar South

Perhaps the whole shebang should be known as "ITV Calendar"? The idea that there are buildings in Hull and Lincoln with "ITV Yorkshire" written on the sign, strikes me as being beyond ridiculous.

As we don't have regional production encaps anymore (just "ITV Productions" or "a production for ITV1")... that means that signage, headed paper etc are the only places where "ITV Yorkshire" still survies.

So is it really worth Leeds' while, desperately clinging onto it? ITVplc are not averse to "committing murder" (i.e. they killed off the "H"/"Harlech" in Wales and the West of England), so why not go for "ITV Calendar"?

Might be a good idea calling it ITV Calendar, although the "Yorkshire Television" refers to the company/franchise-holder's name Yorkshire TV Ltd, rather than the four counties. As you pointed that hasn't stopped ITV renaming the onscreen name of HTV to ITV Wales/West, even though those franchises are still legally held under HTV.

The bit I've highlighted in bold ^, is slightly inaccurate. Watch carefully the end credits of Heartbeat , it says "(c) Yorkshire Television"! I think it is the same at the end of Emmerdale too Cool That Dead Clever drama had (c) Granada Television at the end last night, not sure if Coro does though Confused

Yes, but that's the " copyright caption " (i.e. a small line of text at the bottom of the final closing credits slide.

The thing I referred to was the " production caption " (i.e. the blue and white slide that says "ITV Productions") - it doesn't mention the regional company name at all. So my previous statement was not even slightly inaccurate! Razz

OK, fair enough, me culpa Embarassed Laughing

My point was intended to demonstrate that "Yorkshire TV" is still acknowledged onscreen, albeit not on the production endcap as you point out Cool

Obviously they can't use the yellow chevron anymore at the end of Heartbeat etc, because it "fell off" the Leeds studios Wink

Indeed. And unless ITVplc ever feel the need to change the actual company names at Companies House, on the broadcast licences etc, then the copyright captions will still mention the traditional company names forever more, presumably?

One of the two bus companies in my town was called Midland Red (South) when I was a kid. (There's also Midland Red (West) etc etc, elsewhere in the midlands). When it got taken over by Stagecoach in the 1990s, it the main branding on the bus livery, shops, literature etc became Stagecoach Midland Red , then eventually Stagecoach in Warwickshire , with no overt mention of "Midland Red" at all. However, the small print above one wheel of the bus has never stopped saying "Midland Red (South)" to this day. It's kind of like the copyright captions on ITV.

Clearly, therefore, it is normal for some remnant of the original company name to not necessarily be completely overwritten, no matter how big a takeover has occurred.

Duncan Wood has just said that Gaynor Barnes will be back with Calendar tomorrow and that there will be a big announcement - a few changes. He also said that its his and Gaynor's last programme together.

Anyone know what is happenning?

On Monday there will be 2 versions of Calendar, one for the west and one for the east of the region

Today's announcement confirms that they won't be mix and matching the presenting line ups

I live in South Yorkshire, so which one will I get and will it be Duncan and Christine?

It hasn't really been confirmed who will get what. They seem to be leaving it all until tomorrow's Calendar
