Or will calendar adopt the new itv regional name format, by calling themselves Calendar Tonight?

Maybe they will call it Yorkshire Tonight in line with other regions i.e. "< insert region Name> Tonight" Central Tonight, Granada Tonight, Wales Tonight etc.

They aren't calling it Calendar Tonight. That would be totally meaningless, only 2 regions have renamed with a Tonight along with those programmes who had to have totally new name due to the region changing it's name (HTV)

I'd have thought that Calendar is the most obvious choice as it's the one viewers recognise. We have two Central Tonight's, two Meridian Tonight's, two Anglia Tonight's, two North East Tonight's, can't see whats wrong with two Calendar's. Having Calendar in the West and Calendar Tonight in the East just sounds bizzare.

Most other regional news programmes have the same name as the regions name - its only Border (Lookaround) Yorkshire and Tyne Tees that dont I think out of the ITV Plc regions?

The only problem with calling it Yorkshire Tonight , is the paradox of half of YTV's coverage area not being in Yorkshire (Lincs, northern Notts, Derbys and Norfolk) Laughing I think that the name "Calendar" was originally chosen for the YTV news output with this in mind IIRC Confused

I should imagine that Calendar East (Belmont service) will continue to be called Calendar East . I assume that the Emley Moor service will be consequently called Calendar West ?

People in South Yorkshire are already narked off that they think the Leeds based media focusses too much on Leeds and not enough on Sheffield. They wouldn't be impressed on the word West being used at all

I expect they will both be called Calendar, as all the other bulletins will be pan-regional they will be saying stuff like "Join us on tonight's Calendar when we will have a round up of the weekend's sport..." etc

I agree, it does seem daft. I was suggesting perhaps they will brand both programmes Calandar Tonight, to fit in with the rest of itv.

I'm sure both programmes will have the same name - means you don't need to do two out-cues and re-edit for reports shared between the two.

Why call the region Yorkshire then if thats the case - technically it should be called Yorkshire and Lincs. Wink

So how many news regions has ITV (and the BBC) got now then - and why don't us Gogs in North Wales get our own?
