Leeds just gave us a nice widescreen Ballet ident at 10pm Surprised

Don't all of the regions show it? NE&C seem to show all the original idents (including Ballet), and even Salsa for some reason - hardly the most newsy ident...

Yep - how he got interested in the weather, global warming, how he gets on with Peter, if he likes his job etc.... dispelling a couple of myths.... a good half hour, and I'll go back through my recording of it and provide some quotes!

Oh the interesting life in Lincolnshire. Don't mean to piss on your party here, but has anybody noticed that the new set actually intrudes on the rear screen during the weather?

Does it really need 200 people and a posh building in one of the most expensive parts of Leeds to produce this drivel? The BBC's expensive gravy train just goes on and on.

Nope - can't say I've noticed....... what is important though is that the whole of the region's weather on the screen is visible.....

Lincolnshire is great but it s not well served by the BBC. The radio station is utterly, utterly, utterly aimed at the over 80s and the delivery of it's presenters ranges from patronising to um, patronising.

Can you provide some specific examples of this 'patronising tone' that you've heard? And how is it specifically 'over 80s,' ? Don't people in their 80s have an equal right to have radio/television programming catering for their needs when so much of today's radio is geared towards a younger audience? Should they not have a niche of their own?

Look North seems to be 5 minutes of headlines the rest total trivia and nothingness.

It's apparently designed that the weather provides the 'bridge' between the serious and more light-hearted stuff. I am not sure that it's not only the first five minutes... I have plenty of Hull shows on tape so will actually research your claim to see if it holds any water at all or turns out to be a sieve instead.....

Peter Levy is totally over-rated - his tan is more radioactive than The Dukes.

I don't accept this at all. There are many people that think he's a very able presenter, including a lot of his former co-workers in radio down the years.... someone said this of Peter in an e-mail to me... He is very dedicated to his job, has an exemplary attendance record, has never faked a sickie and I don't think he's had many chances to go anywhere to top up a tan as a result!! From seeing him doing Look North stuff 'on the scene' he's the consummate professional who really cares about doing a good job - if only ALL people were as dedicated to their jobs as Peter Levy!

His 'news presentation' style is so formal compared with how I remember listening to him....... his programmes were so informal and very chatty.......very much a friend on the radio.

How anyone can say Helen Fospero is bland obviously didn't see her providing on-the-scene reports about 9/11.... she's said this on her biog page on the Look North website about her time as a journalist in the USA....

I covered the Bush/Gore Presidential election; Timothy McVeigh's execution in Terre Haute, Indiana; The Oscars (three years running) and of course the tragic events of September 11th. I witnessed the towers collapse from the fire escape of my downtown apartment, and went on to report extensively on the tragedy, the aftermath and the subsequent War on Terrorism.

I wouldn't say bland, but only a person of very high mental strength and fortitude could have got through the coverage of 9/11......

I cant wait to be back in the smoke back to some proper TV news without the trivia and the non-entityness.

As Harry Gration once said, "People don't want an hour of at-your-throat news, they want light and shade". ESPECIALLY given that the half-hour of news before BBC regional news programmes is so often filled with all kinds of horrific and harrowing events...... the light after the shade?

I took the liberty of timing/recording the content of the serious stuff on today's Hull show. The first 15 minutes of this 25-minute programme (just over half) contained nothing but unadulerated pure seriousness focusing on the Grimsby Bird's Eye job losses, anti-social behaviour at a Stickney picnic site and the new developments on the sinking of the trawler, the Gaul. Laugh a minute? Don't think so.....

That's beside my point..... in the first half of the programme, I heard no trivial remarks whatsoever. It was entirely serious news..... on the whole, that's reserved for the post-weather lighter half.... and they make the light conversation because research has proven (both formally and from e-mails from the public), that the banter is WHAT THE VIEWERS WANT. They say that time and time again! In one phone-in on Radio Lincolnshire/Humberside last year, person after person rang in and said "DON'T STOP THE BANTER!"
