I don't like the temp set. The background looks bad. I would think they would of gone with frosted glass that would look like this:

Looks nice IMO

Nice to see the newsroom again, looks like they are decamped in the right hand section of it, presumably above Christine Talbot and to the right is the old balcony where the bulletins used to come from. IMHO they should present in the newsroom and get rid of this corporate studio nonsense!

I did always wonder if there was actually a balcony there or whether they just shoved a camera up there and used green screen near the main set!

It was definitely real me thinks, the newsroom structure itself hasn't changed much it seems, the decor obviously has though. BTW are Calendar Studios in TV Centre Leeds, or opposite the road?

There was deffo a bulletin studio up there - it was known as the "treehouse"...

I was gonna say I thought the complex at YTV was quite large. Is the news area confined then hense the movement out of the main Calendar studio? Wonder if they'll still have the pillar with the plasma screen where they open the show usually.

How long did Central News West stay in their temporary location?

About six weeks I think, maybe even as many as eight weeks - it was "the whole summer" (2004).

Just like the old one but a bit more squashed up I assume. Anyone know how big the Calendar studio is compared with the Central News studio?

I got the impression that Calendar has easily the biggest studio of any ITVplc regional news programme at the moment - and therefore a "lots of spare space" rendition of the generic set (more glass panels stretching away "stage right", over to that "pillar".

So, far from the dividing-up of the studio meaning that that two new east/west studio will be cramped, they'll probably be a normal comfortable size each.

There was an extra bit of the temporary studio seen tonight, an area with a plasma where Jason did the sport from

Meanwhile Catherine Tate was a guest on Calendar tonight, so cue lots of 'does my face look bovered', type gags. She was also a guest on Look North, and they did the same exact bovered gags as well 30 minutes later!

An unusual one is Penny Bustin doing the late Look North tonight, and over on ITV1, Nisha Pankhania is doing the late Calendar News

When will Calendar move back to the studio, or are they staying in the newsroom from now on?

I nearly bumped into Katherine in Boston on Monday.

Plus, does Peter Levy really like The Killers? It caused much merriment here when he mentioned his liking of the band this week.
