I wouldn't be surprised if London were Hull's fall-back (now or soon) rather than Leeds (even though the Hull opt-out gear is still partially based in Leeds I believe)

Despite the new buildings in Leeds and Hull - Hull cannot opt unless Leeds have opted first.

So would that make Hull still a sub-opt of Leeds, despite having totally seperate programming?

Not really. It's just to do with circuitry. Far cheaper to have a line from Hull to Leeds than a line from Hull to London. All regions work on a complex network like this. Nottingham routes to Birmingham etc etc. The BBC is spending your money wisely!!

As a Belmont viewer, does this mean when Tiger Tim is on at Wimbledon again and Look North goes over to BBC2, we will get the Hull programme or the Leeds programme?

Let's hope they do what BBC Scotland did and confine that habitual loser to the secondary channel.

No offense if you are reading, Tim. It's just that when it comes to the crunch you're a bit rubbish. And it's not for the lack of support, is it?

How come Hull went to 14:9 just before the opt (well I say just before... halfway through the weather) but Leeds didn't last night?

Also why is the Leeds newsroom camera not widescreen?

Paul had an equipment failure tonight on both programmes.

On the Leeds show he did the weather sat on the sofa with the 'Weather News Paul Hudson' opening screen behind him. This was framed well so I'm thinking, with the new set up of weather screen behind the sofa maybe Paul could return to doing the weather sat down, just like he did in the old days

For the first time they did not use the streched weather intro slide last night

The only problem with that is that we wouldn't be able to make jokes about his size....... mind you, if it means him looking straight into the camera for the duration of the forecast showing those nice eyes etc.... I ain't gonna complain! Wink

After hearing the clips from the TV Room (thanks TV MAN) i have to say i like and prefer the lunchtime music - theres a subtle difference..an high pitched type of sound...very nice ...

Look North Leeds failed to opt out at 10pm, so we got the network ident and BBC London headlines. Let's see if Ian White appears at 10.25.

Hull opted out at 10pm tonight which must mean Hull CAN opt out without Leeds doing so first!

It's all clever stuff this TV broadcasting!

Leeds DID opt, but technical gremlins meant the the output didn't appear on BBC1 analogue, it did appear on DTT and Satellite -

Looks like we're getting the first non-news opt of the St Peter's era after Jonathan Ross for Rugby League Raw, although that may origininate from Manchester, followed by the film timeshifted before opting (crashing?) into News24

Rugby League Raw? Wasn't that an award winning Yorkshire Television series?!

Oh and poor that Ian White is presenting Look North Saturday tommorow. This means we won't get to see what John Boyd or Dean Peppall make of the new set just yet.
