Yes, it was very noticeable this lunchtime. Christa suddenly jumped from one side of the sofa to the other before and after conducting the interview.

I remember they recently did one on the 6.30 edition, where the recorded bit was in after the 1st "coming up". The interview was conducted, they then did a link (recorded) and went to VT. Afterwards, the rest was live.

I would say that it worked (would have fooled me), but they accidentally cut to the studio after the coming up sting for a second or two before playing the recorded piece.

I beleive that Peter Levy's Su Pollard & Jimmy Krankie interviews are pre-recorded and repeated every 6 weeks.

Yes, and Dicky Turd actually died 7 years ago, they just use the same footage of him over and over.

I thought he was a creation of the Jim Henson Workshop.

Oh no, that was the Queen Mum.

Now this is where I have to disagree, as I think BBC Radio Manchester's jingles and trails are rather superb, even more odd is that the current themes being used by Manchester and Leeds were created by the same company; IQ Beats, RM's TOTH is rather superb, although they've changed the TOTH slogans from....

"On 95.1FM, DAB Digital Radio, and on the World Wide Web, this is Manchester, BBC Radio Manchester...(GM pips).."

to

"On 95.1FM, DAB Digital Radio and on the World Wide Web, you're gonna love where we're coming from! BBC Radio Manchester...(GM Pips)..."

...though one would guess most BBC Local Radio stations have rather similar things.

I heard that somewhere else a couple of weeks ago and thought it was pretty good - where did it come from? There was a spoof "phone us/email us" promo with it too.

I think it's been doing the rounds on email. I don't know where it came from though. Never heard the second promo.

Is anyone else getting tired of Look North's "let's pretend this interview is live" attitude. Why can't they just say "earlier, I spoke to...."

Yes like the "here's Paul to tell us about the weather" on the Late LN Leeds. And on the subject of weather: is it me or is the banter between his Levyness and the boy Hudson more toe curling these days? It getting more like "Broken News" every time I watch.

Pre-recorded packages are being used more - the official reason is improved production quality. The actual reason is lower levels of staff and time constraints. There is no exuse for presenters bouncing form one side of the screen to the other if it has been rehearsed properly. You can tell when Levy cuts back in live in Hull as he looks up and sits back.
As for Levy & Hudson as has been said before nothing will happen until the ratings drop and the old dears stop loving him and knitting them both tanks tops. No editor, old or new would risk dumping such a formula with a high audience appreciation Index and very good ratings. Confused

I've wondered this for a long time but is the Look North Hull 3.20 News Update pre-recorded? I get this impression because there is never any mention of it at the end of the lunchtime programme and the presentation of it comes across as quite bland and doesn't give the appearance of it being live. I always thought the Yorkshire version was live on the other hand because it tends to have more life into it, though the lack of a weather presenter in the studio doesn't do either of them any favours IMO.

All news bulletins on BBC 1, 2, itv, Channel 4 and five have to be live. If they are not done live then they can get into serious trouble with ofcom. An example of the trouble they can get into is from what happened to Central News East last year when they pre recorded the late bulletin.
