The Hull set was arranged differently when the programme first started. There was a large screen behind the presenters and two sets of light panels the other screen was set at more or less a right angle and was used for the weather and the Look North news headlines in the days where standing up was in fashion. The earstwhile editor had the set shuffled to its present layout due to viewers complaints about the CGI humber Bridge which used to sit in the background. The wide shot is generally pre-recorded.
Can't see it getting a revamp till they get an editor
IMO the CGI Humber Bridge was better than the light panels they have as a background now.Surely it would have made snse to change the image rather than move the couch so that the lights were the background?
They didn't move the seat they moved the whole set & fiddled around with it. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said what would make sense. Nothing much makes sense at the BBC at the moment
Didn't they also reconfigure the desk so that only one monitor remained? Yes now on the old background screen isn't it just a white version of the LN logo (when its turned on). What a waste.

Looking at pics posted in this forum of the set, it has to be one of the worst of all BBC regions IMO. The 'sofa' is awful. And when on the SLS, with the 'tables' in between each seat means the guests look too far apart.
The older set was bad enough with that NWT style bench and that hideous grey/silver desk, now that they have added those wonkey panels to the gameshow looking illuminated squares the studio looks terrible. And the new desk is vile too.
*Rant over*
Plus, I caught a few minutes of the Hull edition, do they always use that one shot with Peter Levy in front of those awful multicoulered panels at different angles? After the 'Still to come' sequence the wide showed a large sofa and two screens.
