Look North Hull featured an 'in depth' investigation this evening into how awful it is that 10 years on, businesses are still adressing letters to people in the area under the 'Humberside' name and failing to recognise the new county names.

Have they forgotten they still have a radio station named after the ill fated county ?

Fantastic!!

I personally thought "Humberside" was a sensible name for the area - it seems logical rather than all this "North East Lincolnshire", "East Riding Of Yorkshire" rubbish.

But still, what does it matter...you still see letters addressed "Coventry, Warwickshire" and similarly my home town listed as "Nuneaton, West Midlands" (referring to counties or authorities) when technically it isn't correct. Who cares!?

It matters to those people who live in Yorkshire and were undemocratically moved to pay for a bridge and then at great expense moved back. The BBC Humberside bit is a classic peice of a non local radio station run by people who don't care. Its biggest audience geographically does not listen as its not relevant. Its really Radio Hull & Grimsby as is Look North. The only way they get away with it is public apathy.

Incidentally, BBC Radio Humberside existed, with that name, before the county of Humberside was established, so I suppose there's no reason to change the name now the county no longer exists.

The government of the day had to create a reason for the humber bridge to exist. It still doesn't really go anywhere. The idea was to agree a local government county to pay for it and to justify such a huge capital project. To smooth the way the BBC were encouraged (ie given a frequency) to create a radio station in 1971. It was supposed to smooth the way for a county. Rediffusion were also paid by the government to supply a service via their cable service (channel B) and by the time it opened the an AM & FM frequency were supplied. If Barabara castle had not promised the Bridge as an election winner, it and Radio Bumbleside, would not exist

Paul was off with a touch of the "wet and windys" as Peter put it so eloquently today.

It's at times like this you wish Kat was around with a witty retort.

I can't imagine what she could have said that would remove the image of flatulence and anal seepage I am now forced to deal with.

It looks a bit of a wasteland, so maybe it is.

I bet he wished he lived in "Fame Avenue", just to the north.

Wonder what happened tonight in Leeds. Emley Moor fed the network at 10pm instead of BBC1 Yorkshire, so Dean introduced the news and the regional headlines were from BBC London. Not the first time though.

For the first time since the ITV News relaunch it was Jo rather than Jon who did the weather chat during tonight's Calendar.

Since January Jo, Kerrie and Debbie are relegated to appearing on YTV during daytimes and weekends only

On Wednesday night's Calendar, they went on a tour of the new 'Bullseye' set.

It was nice to the see the YTV chevron proudly displayed on the cameras in the background.
