Is it available on job share?

If so, I know a couple of people from Bristol who might just be suitable.

The BBC is an equal oppertunities employer so they have to consider all applicants - its a bit of a risk relocating to Hull for what could be such a short appointment. These people would need a rugged constitution and have no hang ups about having no news in a news programme. They would need to prove they have experience in producing bland and insipid programming however they have an excellent asset in the programme presenter. Laughing

He or she would also inherit a team of pretty decent reporters, journalists, VJs etc - who have already indicated clearly that they want to work on a much stronger programme.

Which now begs the question why the programme is so poor? Given that it is the stated aim of Helen Thomas (HLRP) and the ex editor to produce a news heavy programme. Does Mr Levy have that much power?

Peter Levy is effectively the Editor of the programme. He will be in for the shock of his life if a news oriented Editor is appointed in the coming months. The programme as it stands is shockingly poor. I am told that at least two journalists are now employed as full time 'celebrity bookers' to keep Levy's guest list stocked up with trashy has-beens

If they appoint a news oriented editor its likely that he or she will go the same way as Mr Punter.

On tonight's Calendar there was a brief mention of the new look Calendar starting on Monday but it was all 'top secret'

One thing they could tell us though was about a new member joining the Calendar team from Monday....

I don't understand what they mean by him 'coming in from the cold.' Is he not actually based at YTV but rather Granada?

No, he's based at YTV, but it means he's being integrated into the show rather than as a standalone slot at the end of the programme.

Wonder what this means for the sponsorship & weather stings etc.

Seeing how they do it on London Tonight with Chrissie and Meridian Tonight with Martyn, it'll go something like this..

Informal weather chat
so let's have a look in more detail

Yes as I was saying...

I wonder if there will be banter, e-mails from viewers etc like on the other side

It's nothing new, he has done this before, being on the Calendar set with the presenters that is. This was in 2002.

John has always come into the studio on rare occasions during periods of extreme weather ie. snow or heatwave for a chat but not for the forecast.

However, this seems to be a new regular feature, and that he will be doing the forecast within the bulletin.
