Did the cat walk across your keyboard as you wrote that Morgaine? Wink

Anyway, as for the new look LN... On first impressions, It's a bit pink isn't it? I'm also not sure about the CSO on Breakfast. It looked better this afternoon using a 'natural' background.

On the plus side, the lighting's sooo much better than the old place making the presenters look better. The projection screen's good as well, and is nice and clear unlike a lot of others in use in other programmes.

We'll no doubt get a better impression this evening.

Clare's travel and weather system was back this morning as well and is now in use on all breakfast bulletins, not just those at the bottom of the hour.
Scarborough and Thirsk replace Hull and Lincoln on the weather bit joining the other three places Leeds, Sheffield and York.

There was a nice new version of the LDN style music used at the start of the Lunchtime Show as well.

Is there any chance someone could explain to me about the new CSO screen behind Clare please i.e what happens to it during other bulletins? Is she not really in the main studio? I hope someone understands what I mean. Very Happy

Also where did Paul do the weather for Look North(Hull) from?

Well now I'm not exactly a frequent viewer of this programme, but at least they've sorted the lighting out finally. Mind you I'm surprised they don't they want two areas anymore -- when they move away to do all the nonsense stuff that seems invariably to be about chipshops whenever I've seen it.

And who on earth allowed Paul Hudson to make a dvd? Derek Brockway had his own tv series and it really was quite terrible -- and that's coming from me.

interesting ending of the programme to play out the full titles sequence... and not sure what the point of that plasma is

I like the new look, but one thing I'm quite unsure about is the use of the big screen for the weather. Is this really needed? Although it's modern etc. it's nowhere near as good quality as a standard CSO map.

She is in the main studio as there is a wide shot between her and Lisa. I think that the background used at breakfast time is there in the backdrop at all times, its just she sits of the sofa at a slightly different angle, you could see it just to the right of Christa.

Interesting behind the scenes feature. I'd quite like to see Look North with Tom Ingall and Cathy Killick or with Ian White and Tanya Arnold!

Katherine has probably fainted, firstly due to Paul's special report on tonight's show and secondly that he's got a video out!

The music used in tonight's main show is just the same as last week, all the stings and title music was the same, but the short sting used at lunchtime and possibly at 10.25pm is a new never heard before mix

Any caps or video or files for the new set/titles/music?

Ian White from the self-op but not driving it himself (mixes out of reports back to the studio rather than cuts gave that one away, plus the fact that we could see his hands)... well except to turn the lights off at the end as he stood up and removed his mic to "go pack".

I know it's been said here that the new building doesn't have a self-op but has one studio and two galleries, one a traditional one and one that can be operated by one person... if there is only one studio does that mean that Hull's weather will always have to be recorded? Or is there a CSO position for weather seperate to the studio? And if there is, is it behind the smaller gallery desk so that it could be used as a self-op if they wanted to?

(I assume by the fact that it's done from the self-op studio rather than the main Leeds set that it has been live usually)

Think this has been answered by this morning.

The new weather isn't CSO - it is presented from a physical projector. This means that the single-person operated gallery doesn't have to have CSO facilities to still do a live weather bulletin. As long as the second gallery can route sources to the invision screen (or they can be pre-routed) then there isn't a problem.

BBC East in their old Norwich studio had the ability to work their main studio into both their main gallery and their self-op gallery/studio (but put a director in the self-op chair, and the presenter in the main studio - with the director operating the self-op controls) which is pretty similar.

I think that Tunbridge Wells also has a single studio - two galleries approach. BBC London and Norwich have a single studio and gallery I think - but the single gallery can be operated with more or less staff?

It was more a question of where the weather for the Hull version of Look North comes from - it was from the pres/self-op studio at Woodhouse Lane

The new building has two galleries and one studio -

The Hull weather comes from the Leeds Weather Office which has a CSO glass bead curtain and camera.
