Why is Radio Lincolnshire so dull?

Why is Lincs FM so dull?

All women in radio sound the same, I'm sure I keep hearing the same woman on those two stations reading the news AND doing OBs in the BBC bus.

In other news, I picked up BBC1 audio on about 59FM on a fancy radio. (anorak mode off)

Key word here is Lincolnshire.

I think you're probably right there. Radio stations tend to match the nature of the area they serve. Stations serving big cities tend to sound big and vibrant whilst rural stations tend to be a bit more cosy and sedate. Lincolnshire's rather flat and dull and its local radio stations reflect that.

Did anyone watch the Richard Whiteley Memorial Programme on Tuesday Night.

I thought it was a well put together programme and a good tribute to Richard Whiteley.

Also to note that when the camera panned across the audience you could see that Christine & Duncan were sat next to Harry & Christa in the audience!

Breaking News on tonight's Calendar with news just coming in about the shooting in Bradford.

On Look North, the headline sequence featured only Harry Gration in the studio and didn't mention the breaking news. Obviously recorded

After the titles he'd be joined by Christa, who has obviously been recalled from the Children in Need OB which she was going to present

I have a feeling there was a second recorded headline sequence and they played the wrong one - the opt was messy as if the playout had gone pear shaped.

Yes, I watched on Sky up here in Scotland (in fact I watch all ITV1 via the YTV feed - STV is pants!). I thought it was very well put together, despite the fact that much of it was from the documentary Richard did himself.

Despite the fact that Christa has the face of a prune, it was nice to see such a huge turn out for a great TV icon.

Does anyone remeber when Calendar use to have a full graphic sequence at the end of the programme in the 1970's? They use to find unusual ways to film it, invariably with presenters relaxing in the background.

How come O21 are now the OB links for YTV now? Are all former ITV OB's under this umbrella?

Both Look North with Ian White and Calendar News with Frazer Maude had studio guests tonight, which is rare for the late bulletins. As mentioned, on Look North there was no sound on Paul's forecast so Ian had to fill for a bit

Massive crowds at Millennium Square in Leeds. There must be... tens of people there

There was also a band there, who played out every OB, and got cut off before they'd done much more than the intro

Tom Ingall as usual was the annual bath of beans reporter

Yes, just catching up, but I did, Andrew.

With the exception of the last minute or two, as I suspect it over-ran and my tape stopped before the credits.

I got as far as Carol speaking inside the back of the empty Minster. It then mixed to a rostrum shot of the front of the service sheet and then my tape stopped.

Very good programme, in my opinion.

The only, posible, comment being that they didn't credit the musicians and singers at the point that they sang or played; they just captioned what the music was. I was, therefore left wondering who the bald, male singer was, who did a piece on his own, then a duet with a female later on.

His name could well have been in the end credits, but, as I said, I managed to miss them.

I thought Kathy was brilliant, considering the circumstances.

Probably avoiding the network ticker? Did they do the soft-opt and overlay a ticker stuff this year on analogue? Didn't see anything on digital but that's understandable technically

I never saw any soft opting this year.

Yesterday's Look North Saturday was presented by Harry Gration live from Bradford. Unusual for Look North Saturday there was no sport

Where in Bradford? An OB or the BBC studio at the museum?

An OB.
I notice Cathy Killick is currently outside of the museum (which happens to be opposite the Police Station) on The Politics Show currently
