The Levy Letter is getting worse and worse as well, Peter always puts in a silly line about Paul being small and getting the weather wrong at the top, as if its the first time he's used that gag.

On Radio Leeds the drivetime programme had a much higher level of journalistic quality tonight, as newsreader Steve Saul was presenting, in for Darragh Corcoran.

Oh, you guys are just getting too obsessed with BBC Look Hull.....with Peter Luvvie Levy. Get over it. It'sjust a sad waste of my money and yours, in the ridiculous Licence Fee system. A public broadcasting system losing viewers/listeners hand over fist, we must get our priorities right and think of a new name for a programme with more sheep as viewers thn people.

Back to proper reportage, Calendar are doing special 'archive' days next week. Bringing back the likes of Marilyn Webb etc. Get your videos tuned in.

By the way, I've been trawling through the video box transferring things to DVD, and I've come accross the following:

1) The full series of Deadline;
2) The full series of Yorkshire Gold;
3) Various Calendar and YTV items.

I'm going to pass them on to TV ark, but if anybody wants a copy, send me a PM and I'll arrange to do it for you if you supply the tape/s and postage.

Good, I was hoping they would do something like this.

I was also hoping they would do something similar to ITN's idea of bringing back old presenters for a day however with the loss of Richard Whitely, (and they would never be able to get Christa for a night) I think it would seem a bit pointless now.

and with Austin Mitchell not being able to do it due to impartiality, you'd end up with Mike Morris and not much else.

They mentioned Bob Rust as well, I'd be good if they could get him to do the weather. He'd be lost without his cube and graphics going upside down.

Anyone notice on tonight's Late Look North with Ian White, instead of playing out the first report they played the opening titles!

On a similar archival note - YTV's Flagship series Farmhouse Kitchen

Just got a stack of ancient videos to anorak through, uploading interesting bits to the MHP PP. Good trading material!

Because they hadn't played the titles at the start, I presume it was still cued up on the server...

Basically it cut from London to Ian White sitting there writing on his scripts, with the music... he seemed oblivious to it as he positioned himself for the wide shot and then we had 10 seconds of playing 'which camera shall I look at'.

I can only guess it's such a busy junction at the top of the show. Mistakes can happen! I blame the server technology, and the pressure and stress put on the director. No doubt Ian wasn't too happy about the mistake and the director feels crap.

There does seem to be technical problems on the late bulletin quite a lot. For example they over run due to earlier problems at least twice a week meaning they cut straight from the weather back to London without Ian signing off

I'm led to believe there's one person putting out the bulletin, ie directing and vision mixing it. And doing the timings alot of the time. Alot for one person to do, late at night! There are many problems with the server technology I can see, including being unreliable and complicated. I've heard this technology enables one person to do a job of 3, but of course that alone brings on the stress! Alot to remember!

and three times the headache when the technology goes pear shaped I suspect. Does Ian have network talkback in his earpiece during the bulletin? Might help with not crashing the opt if he did, I think it was common to have that during a self-op bulletin for obvious reasons.

Am not doubting the stress - can quite believe it... though one year in on BBC One's flagship news programme to still have quite so many mistakes is somewhat odd, though not surprising. It's the system (which everyone warned would make this happen) with people there quite competent, but working with a system that makes them seem less so.

Tommorow it's Bob Rust which should be fun, especially if there's banter with Jon Mitchell

Instead of harking back to same era all the time and getting the same old presenters guesting all the time, it would be nice to see some more recent Calendar presenters that haven't been seen since, such as Mike Morris, and maybe some 1990s footage generally, such as early Tonight and early Gaynor and Christine
