Look North and Points East have gone through to next week's final

And here's this week's short list
http://www.rp-networkservices.com/tvforum/uploads/newnames2.jpg

Anyone got any favourites? and also anyone any idea which sensible one is likely to win. If it's Look North it really will be a bit of a anti-climax!

Hmm so what happened to Hull Live then!?

Shouldn't that be BBC Newsline East?! Laughing

Hehe!

Yes, with a VERY large dog and the programme name written across the perspex screen in front of (all) the performer(s).

yes, but replace bombs with whoopie cushions, replace ian paisley's rants with peter calling paul "short" for hillarious effect and replace reports about the the orange men with reports about an orange/fake-tanned <insert obscure 80s tv show with tenuous link or no link to the region> actor down the line from peter's <london/manchester/leeds/liverpool/any other city atleast 50 miles from hull> studio.

East Coast Tonight has a bit of a flaw doesn't it? You can't get it in Scarborough can you?!

I like the "Spotlight"-esque ambiguity of "Compass", as it's a portion of England that's difficult to describe accurately without being cumbersome, an ambiguous title seems most sensible. ( "BBC Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire, and Northern Norfolk Today", anyone?)

I can't however manage Compass FM in North East Lincolnshire about having their (rather) successful brand stolen from them. They called the station that because they couldn't decide on something relatively local unlike the rest of Lincs FM Group stations.

Radical idea, but how about Look North? It MIGHT just work.

Alf, I have learned that your words do merit marking.

Could it be the case that your early "reveal" has led to a change of heart?

They really do have a p! ss-poor shortlist. Each and every one is just screamingly twee. I think 'Out Look' has to be my favourite as it sounds like the title of a very worthy 'gay issues' programme from the early 90s.

What's the betting they stick with Look North making these months of deliberation a complete waste of time?

That also applies to the very dull sounding 'Focus'.

Newsline East is a bad title as it sounds like the name of a serious news programme, not a light hearted regional magazine!

Lincs to the North, well, what can you say really!

My serious vote goes to Points East I think, although we should vote as Asa says for The Peter Levy Show. I wonder what they'd do if the winner was one of the stupid ones!

But there are many coastal towns for which that name would be appropriate, Hull, Grimsby, Skegness, Bridlington, Cleethorpes etc. Still not really appropriate for Scunthorpe or Lincoln though.

Can't see "Lincs to the North" pleasing the Hull lot very much.
