There seems to have been some big changes on BBC Radio Leeds since last time I listened.
Weekdays 9-12am is now Bob Walmsley with 2-4pm now presented by Diana Luke. From next week it changes again, 9-12am will now be Graham Liver with Bob Walmsley moving back to the afternoons.
What's happened to John Boyd? Has he retired?
This completes the modernisation of Radio Leeds's weekday schedule, as John Boyd was always a natural progression after Peter Levy, his show was aimed at the same age group. Graham Liver's show will be nothing like John Boyd.
Nope - John Boyd's contract wasn't renewed, as he revealed live on air one Sunday afternoon on the rugby league show. He then took calls on it, got people to text in saying how much they'd miss him.
Funnily enough in the next week he wasn't on air much and wasn't heard from after that... so hence the need for a move before the end of his contract was due (end of July) and Graham Liver was scheduled to take over.
Also, take time to check out the Look North Messageboard on the BBC website, seems to be a few bitter and twisted people on their complaining about the Lincolnshire bias of the programme !!!
Although my personal favourite is :
"I've given up watching it. The tired old format (always a "celebrity" plugging something, a lottery winner etc), the tedious banter between Levy and Hudson, the shortage of actual news - no, I prefer the second half of Flog It. I can catch up on the headlines after the 10 o'clock news. "
So he's been sacked then. I notice Graham Liver has been removed from the BBC Radio Lancashire pages suggesting he's left his daytime show there to move to Radio Leeds full time.
I wonder how long it will be before Liz Green and Andrew Edwards are axed.
Moving off Radio Leeds for a moment, I was sat in the car in a traffic jam in Brighouse the other day and BBC Radio Sheffield cut in with a traffic report due to the TP function. I do like their new traffic jingle and bed they are using
