I'm being trained at the moment. I'm making progress, as every time I leave the studio now, the place doesn't explode! Wink

Been tonight, got 10 record requests from patients and got to grips with minidiscs. Also recorded a jingle...... DJ Kitty! Er..... ahem.....

Great Yorkshire Show tomorrow.... 07:51 train!

Anyways, on Sky One, somebody called Charlotte Hudson is presenting a programme called 'Brainiac - History Abuse', is this anything to do with your beloved weather presenters missus?

Surely you've read enough of my blatherings on here to know that Paul's wife is called Nicola?

You haven't been paying attention, Mr Bond.....

I have better things to do than listen to everything you say. It was just a general enquiry.

Can't guess what's attracting you to the Great Yorkshire Show, Kat.

Apart from the obvious, the BBC News tour thingy will be there, providing the question "Can I do the Look North Double?" I've read a short bulletin with Peter, will Harry be doing the same at this BBC stand for part of the day, and will I be lucky enough to read it with him? I don't suppose for one moment it would happen but you never know....

the people I know at the beeb seem to do alright, but they are old hands who have built up fat salaries over the years. I believe the current starting salary for video-journalists in Leeds/Hull is about 32k. Not bad if you are just out of college. Better than working in papers.

It's a real shame that pay and conditions in the media these days are so poor. I've known so many really talented broadcasters quit their jobs for something different because they're treated like sh!t and paid peanuts.

Unfortunately bosses know that there are so many keen people desperate to get their first foot on the ladder and work for next to nothing just to get into the industry. Management therefore know they can treat people as badly as they want, because there'll always be others waiting in the wings to replace them... who will probably cost less too.

Calendar's Gail Mellors has just done a live from Leeds on London Tonight.

Tonight's Calendar is a special edition with the whole programme dedicated to the police raids in Leeds and Dewsbury. Reporters were live at all the scenes.

Other items including the sub opt news round-up and the planned live broadcast from the Great Yorkshire Show have been dropped

Not, of course, that you'd get a job like that straight out of college. You might as well write "The Chairman of ICI gets half a million pounds. Not bad if you're just out of college."

Calendar had an ITV1 Yorkshire branded SNG truck at the Great Yorkshire Show, I didn't get to see News on Tour because I was working. If anyone from Radio York is listening bring your golf buggy to the Education tent!
