I think I've commented here before that it's unfortunate that they've decided to play more music on drivetime rather than replace the presenter with someone who knows how to conduct an interview...

Indeed - used to really enjoy the Radio Leeds drivetime show (back in the days of Ian er somebody wasn't it, and then Liz Rhodes). I can get a music based drivetime show on Real, Pulse, Home, Aire, Galaxy, I don't want that from Radio Leeds!
And especially not with their playlist where one minute they are trying to be cool with a current hit and next minute it's something from the 70s.
It's ok them trying to make the station younger, but they shouldn't really have got rid of the older presenters and got in the current lot. Bring back Steve Le Fevre as well!

And just to show it could actually be worse, last Easter it was the Caravan of Love on BBC Radio Leeds

Was that really a year ago... blimey. Still love the way we go from chart music to Doris on the phone-in, the joy!

Ian Timms, now at Radio Devon, by some sort of coincidence doing the same job Liz Rhodes does at Radio Cumbria. Wonder which station Darragh will get inflicted on as head of programmes if this tradition continues

To complete the picture, here is Easter Monday on Radio Leeds

05.00 James Hoggarth sitting in for Steve Redgrave
07.00 Russell Walker with Bank Holiday Breakfast
09.00 Good Morning with John Boyd
12.00 West Yorkshire Sport
22.00 The Alex Hall Late Show

That's a lot of sport!

Ah yes, Ian Timms - who I remember at the end of his final show said he'd be back. Then never was. Hey, that's radio for you.

nah he did a few stand-ins, and the odd Lunchtime news - I think he left to do the training for the Radioman rollout to the local stations

mmm...

You guys don't seem to be listening to the same station that I am.
BBC Radio Leeds has changed a lot and for the better.

Its sports coverage is top notch, and its presenters are really good. (John Boyd excepted!) I always tune in for Leeds United and Rhinos coverage.

Bob Walmsley, Daragh Corcoran and Martin Kelner are great, and Graham Liver at weekends is a good listen.

Daragh is a good listen, and I do welcome the music, though maybe there is a little too much. When the show was all talk, the features were a bit tired, boring and drawn out. Now its punchy and informative.

I notice they've got local jingles in the Alex Hall Late show now, I'm surprised they didnt do this sooner, I`m not a big fan of that show though.

The Radio Leeds website now has a live webcam feed of the studio.

When the show had presenters capable of carrying off a talk format it was a great listen, eg an interview without talking all over the interviewee.

Agree on Bob, Martin and Graham though

Martin Kelner's show is a right laugh, with that Edouardo character!! Love it!!

This thread has suddenly become very boring and off topic.

In a vain attempt to get it back on track to TV presentation, how poor of Calendar today to revert back to the old style CSO background.

Indeed I don't know what that was about, what studio were they in? and why not just use the usual Calendar News backdrop?!

Good to see Vicky Locklin presenting today. Calendar's very own Faye Barker was on the ITV News Channel so I bet we'll see Vicky on tommorow's late bulletin

Over on Look North, strangly Lisa was in, and did the weather all day right from Breakfast onwards, although the tea and late ones were probably recorded. It was Danni and then Ian presenting

It's an all girl Calendar tonight, Christine & Gaynor presenting.

EDIT : We appear to have a change of shot on Look North (Hull) as well, Peter is now positioned in front of the coloured wall panels with a small plasma.

Have the large screens been removed then ?
