I don’t think we’ll see Johnson avoid them like May did. He’s better in a debate than he is in a one-on-one interview.

Didn't he avoid some during the leadership election?

Yup. Didn't do Channel 4's debate, the Sky News debate or the Question Time special.

So just to be clear - parliament is dissolved on Tuesday next week? And that marks the start of the election campaign?

I’m hoping it at least means the end of the constant ‘Brexit Crisis’ stings on Sky News.

They'll just replace them with election stings if they haven't done so already.

It might be quite sensible to pop a debate on 7-9pm just before IAC, Leaders might catch viewers eyes who wouldn't normally watch that kind of thing.

If I was a broadcaster, I'd be insisting on a shorter length capped at 90 minutes maximum. The Tory debates were only an hour and I think that'd be an ideal length.

This has nothing to do with this topic. Move this elsewhere.

Surely pre-election televised debates have everything to do with this topic?

ITV with IAC probably aren't going to have prime slots available unless it's Tuesdays at 8pm or even Sunday at 7 or 8pm, the latter probably won't happen as it'll be hit by Strictly and His Dark Materials. Corbyn didn't want to do a debate with May on the BBC last year if it clashed with IAC.

Probably suit ITV though to burn off a PSB ad-free show against Strictly.

ITV might but given Corbyn didn't want to do a debate against May potentially against IAC, it's likely out of the question.

While wanting to avoid too much election rota speculation, since the 2017 election both Fiona Bruce and Emily Maitlis have both had big promotions to headline news/current affairs positions. Given that Mishal Husain inherited the Paxman "naughty step", perhaps either Maitlis or Bruce would take over the BBC's daytime coverage.

Apart from Channel 4 News, does ITN use their atrium for any broadcasts at present?

If so/not, could the atrium be a space used for election coverage by one of the outlets (ITN or others)?

I guess they’ll stick to the green swimming pool and do what they’ve done for the last couple of “specials”.
