The atrium was last used by ITV for the election night in 2001. In 2005 they used the atrium in their curved virtual set, but this will be the first election since 2001 that they will be using the main atrium for real.

The atrium will probably become the election results centre for ITV, with Studio 1 being the main presentation area, unless ITV feel Studio 1 is just too small for general elections.

Well, apart from *checks notes* 2017.

I meant the atrium used as the main studio, with the main presenters based in their. Jonathan Dimbleby was host in the atrium for 1997 and 2001 when it was fully based in the atrium with a purpose built in set.

It'll be used as an interview space.

Nice reaction from the BBC. But it’s also an admission that Andrew Marr is too lightweight to conduct the interview and only Neil will do!

Additionally, on Marr, the slot would probably be much shorter than 30mins.

If it was 30mins, it could be cut and paste and reshown “as live” during the prime time slot same day.

Which leads me back to my first point.......

Although can you spot the mistake in the spokeperson's message?

There's the small matter of the programme series being called "The Andrew Neil Interviews", so him appearing (or not) on the Andrew Marr show is arguably besides the point. (Yes I know one of in the interviews was actually conducted by Jo Coburn.) I suppose the BBC could always have 30 minutes of Andrew Neil talking to/at the an ice sculpture with Boris's name etched into it.

Or just pledge to screw the BBC even further. Remember this is the government responsible for Oneness.
