Parliament sitting on Christmas eve for important Brexit votes would be quite challenging for Broadcasters. Can't see it happening through.

Would it be that challenging? BBC Parliament carry it in full. There isn't usually a great deal of domestic news on Christmas Eve so the News Channels will carry what that want. They might have access to fewer pundits but i'm not sure that's a bad thing!

Simon McCoy on College Green on Christmas Eve. Wearing a drooping Santa hat and a small sprig of tinsel in his lapelle. He’ll be made up!

‘Tis the season to be jolly.

I don’t think it’ll happen. But, we live in strange times!

I can't see big Brexit votes not having the top reporters on duty.

The only reason for it would be if BJ wins a large majority, he might want to crown the event with leaving the EU on 31st Dec 2019, rather than 31st Jan 2020. Whether the EU would be willing to countenance meetings during twixtmas to process this would seem doubtful though.

No chance - the European parliament itself would need to vote to ratify and they not going to do that before it passes all it's parliamentary stages. The PM said yesterday he thinks it wouldn't be possible for a 31st December exit.

By pundits I meant the interviewees / contributors rather than the reporters themselves. Sorry for not being clearer.

The likelihood of a Christmas Eve vote is as likely as NYE Brexit, zero.

Not happening since Parliament is due to go on it's Christmas Break on December 19th (i think)

I agree, Christmas is what puts the breaks on any form of Brexit happening within the next month. The general election has caused the delay too.

It will be interesting to see how fast the state opening of parliament will take place, since the election is on the 12th, with parliament reconvening on the 16th, it would be on hell of a fast state opening if it takes place before Christmas.

On a side note with regard to the studios - BBC Studioworks have renewed their partnership deal with Elstree Studios to operate Stages 8 and 9 as well as George Lucas Stage 2 at Elstree until 2024.
