If they do I hope they make it more of an alternative than it was last time when Paxman anchored. A bit fed up of the Last Leg guys but there seems to be a lot of love at C4 for Harry Hill again so that could be a good choice.

Unlikely but would be amazing. Always liked the idea of an alternative election night but usually end up on BBC or ITV.

The Last Leg is a very popular show, with over a million viewers watching live each Friday - I know they are not to everyone's taste, but they will be live on Friday 13th December 2019 to cover the post election results.

Not sure if factual or opinion.

Hang a minute here, stop it. Enough.

That's what we've been saying for weeks. Wink Very Happy

I still watch it most weeks but don't enjoy it as much as I used to - suffers a bit from the Avalon effect of having the same guests series after series. The news agenda being stuck on repeat doesn't help it either.

I agree their guest range is dire, it is the same rotation of guests. It does seem to have lost a bit of its original bite and edge that it had, especially the rants from Adam, which have become rarer now.

Quoting from the linked press release:
Quote:
The day after the election, Julie Etchingham will present a special programme from 9am analysing all the fallout from the previous night’s result.

Seems like that post-election programme will inform us how ITV/STV will handle the 9:25am junction when it's in the middle of a program ahead of Lorraine airing from 9am - 10am in the new year.

Once on STV during Coronation Street they had a ident at the break, so maybe the could do something like that for the 9:25 junction.

Newsnight is moving to studio 34D it seems for the remainder of the election period.

So, we can now be sure the general election coverage is coming from Studio B then?

Yes, although I thought that had been clear for some time?

A former colleague told me at the time of the European elections that the results programme was a (albeit smaller scale) trial to see how (or if) a General Election results programme could be mounted in B should that be needed or decided.

That all seems rather premature. We have over 3 weeks to go, and I thought the previous behemoth election sets in TC1 and Elstree D were only ever used for the final week of the campaign and the results.

I wonder whether they are thinking of doing the Six/Ten from there from this week?

EDIT: Looking at the logo on that desk, that video is from the EU elections.

Were the EU elections pre- or post-Reith? The BBC News logo on the screen at the end appears to be the Reith version - it may be the desk is being reused and has yet to have the logo updated to the General Election version.

I presume the logo will be updated on the desk in due course, and the desk itself will be used for some special political programming and extensive rehearsals in the run-up to the actual election.

Three weeks isn’t a long time, when you consider the other work that still has to be done to the set, as well as fitting-in rehearsals whilst the other part of Studio B is not in use.

Unless Victoria Derbyshire, Lucy Hockings, Impact, Global, Newsnight, Focus on Africa and Talking Business are ALL going to me moved to Studio C completely for the next few weeks, then the rehearsals window available in B will be quite limited.

On reflection of what I’ve just written above, I guess only VD will remain in B and all other programming actually WILL be moved to C, as has happened in the past.

Doesn't seem premature at all. In order to prepare for the Election Programme they have to build the set, do all the technical configuration and rehearsals. In years gone by, all of that was done behind the scenes in a separate studio in Elstree - this time they have to move all the other programmes that use Studio B around while they do it. If VD is still going to be in B during the day then this presumably that elongates the time needed to commission the Election programme too

Most of B it is a standing set, I don't see why some tinkering (putting back the big desk and LED screen) would take that long unless they were intending to use it from this week.
