If they are indeed doing in studio B I feel like they should do some renovations if they can afford it. I’d suggest installing lower pixel pitch LEDs in the soft area for clearer graphics up front and to replace the barcos with LEDs.

For the EU elections didn't they install a new screen to the left of the soft area to allow for the better demonstration of graphics?

The LED wall in the soft area was just used for backgrounds, so no point upgrading that, a virtual screen was used for DTL interviews covering where the cameras were was used instead. The desk area wasn't used at all, so the barco's weren't seen. And a large LED touch screen was used for analysis, as you say, to the left of the soft area.

Upgrading the screens just so they can say they're higher resolution just seems like a waste of money to me. Especially when you could spend that money on getting additional equipment, like the touchscreen, which is far more useful.

Wouldn't it partly come from A as well for Jeremy Vine's green screen

Or the weather/OS balcony?

Suspect they might not want to block the shot between the two halves of B this time, I imagine they'll have an interview position on the soft side of B.

Although that's the advantage of the virtual DTL screen, you can have it there when you need it, and not when you want to throw to the other end of the studio.

I suspect it is an election that those who count the pennies at the BBC will observe closely.

They already have the large set though, wonder if it might cost more to come up with something new to fit in NBH

Has ITV put out any promos for that debate on Tuesday?

They don't have to build the set though and presumably NBH will be little more than using a bigger desk, which again they already have.

It would be a huge shame to see the large scale election sets disappear for good, but when you compare it to what ITV and Sky do in these days of "delivering quality first" if it can be done at NBH for less then that might just have to be the case moving forward. Of course though what we see on screen on election night in terms of the set is probably only a small fraction of the cost of covering each election.

An extra 15 mins of Marr today from 9-10.15 and there's no Remembrance services either to explain the additional airtime.

Regional Sunday Politics programmes are at 10.15.
