2019 General Christmas election.

12th December: NO drama just presentation. (October 2019)

A question here about Sky News coverage during the GE?

Who will they have for presenting duties during their breakfast programmes on Friday the 13th of December?

It would likely still be election programming.

Having cut the BBC News at Ten back to 25 minutes earlier this year I'm guessing it'll be extended as usual for the election build up, though perhaps only back to 30 minutes.
Be nicer and more tolerant to each other. Them's the rules.

WIll we get any debates? Any head to head debates? or will it just be leader interviews?

This will be the first general election to be held in the middle of the BBC Christmas presentation during December - how strange it feels for an election so close to Christmas.

I really think the BBC will now hold back on the Christmas presentation until the election has passed

I doubt it. Why on earth should/would they? Of course a December election is insanity but people are still going to go on with their lives and will want normailty no matter how weird it all feels. If anything, witholding Chirstmas until the election is over is probably the worst thing they could do. "Keep Calm and Carry On" as the overused expression goes.

Yes we will no doubt have a leaders debate, a wider all parties debate, a Scottish debate, a welsh debate, a BBC debate, ITV debate, Channel 4 debate, Sky debate, young people’s debate, old people’s debate, Question Time special that is practically a debate, English regions debate...

Just like how they can’t agree on anything in Parliament, there will no doubt be the usual arguments on which form each debate should take, and who should appear on each one, resulting in about 10 podiums.

BBC will be unpacking their 2017 election set. Children in Need will be held on Friday 15th November in Studio D at BBC Elstree, so once that is out of the way, they will build in the election studio set by December 1st, ready for rehearsals.

So have the other bookings for Elstree been cancelled completely or moved elsewhere?

You can't blame STV nor BBC Scotland as it fills up a 4 hours worth of block for the debates and it looks good for Ofcom etc

Of course, this’ll be our first Reith election, which is kind of exciting. Given their graphics on the BBC at the last election were based on the old NC graphics, it’ll be interesting to see how they look this time.

Also as this is Xmas election does that mean we will have special programmes over the festival period? Will the BBC xmas ident need to have an extra safe one for these shows?

No and no

Firstly it isn’t really Christmas it’s the 12th December

Secondly, the new parliament will still have Christmas recess

And thirdly, Why are people treating the election like it’s category A serious news on a par with a terrorist attack or the death of a key figure. It’s less likely to need a special news safe ident than many news stories would.

Depends on the result- Brexit could happen on the 31st December and that would require special programs.

There is a lot of chanting going on from Pro/Anti Brexit campaigners on RTÉ's Prime Time during a live interview about the GE with two MP's at Westminster tonight. The two MP's are Jack Dromey from Labour & Tom Tugendhat from the Tories. Dr Ronan McCrae is inside Prime Time's usual London studio in the peace & quiet so he is away from the raucous noise coming out from Westminster. The three of them were being interviewed by Miriam O'Callaghan from Dublin.

The chanting only started at 10pm indicating it was for the benefit of British viewers
