Sky News' election night coverage is coming from Gallery 4 at Sky Studios with Sky Central's "Innovation Centre" (basically the mezzanine opposite the GB I believe!) being used as a presentation area. Lighting rig is going up in the middle of this month with rehearsals at the end of the month.

Nope. The innovation centre is the thing underneath the glass box. Not opposite.

Ah yes, thanks, I hadn't twigged that was what they called that general collection of Sky-related exhibits! I don't spend enough time in Sky Central, it seems.

Is it so unreasonable to have one debate between the leaders of the two parties who, between them, got over 80% of votes at the last election?

If the Lib Dems take part on the basis of their current polling, the Brexit Party should too.

Exactly. The hashtag #debateher clearly trying to push it as a sexism thing too.

What's the rules now on Party Election Broadcasts and who gets them?

My point is broadcasters have to act within electoral law, they can’t make the decisions based purely what would be the best debate or who they think will win. Decisions have to be made inline with a set of guidelines.

I’m getting very lost in your argument. The guidelines are all based around who is likely to win the election (polling and past precedent, as all new Phil rightly points out).

Apologies if this has already been asked, but what will be the deal with the Christmas idents and Election coverage? I know they've had "news appropriate" Christmas idents in recent years, but I can't help thinking the election might bring around something different, so maybe normal idents for PEBs and Election night starting. Mind you, I hardly think some of the Oneness idents used for the News are appropriate at times, so probably not a major issue.

The Christmas idents will be unveiled by BBC One in early December as planned. I had an email from the BBC on this, and they said there are no changes to the plan of when the presentation package for 2019 will be unveiled. Any election programming will have a more "considerate" introduction, but other than that, the presentation will be as planned. I do not know what ITV plan to do. Hope this helps.

In recent years the BBC have had a toned down version of their Christmas idents for news programmes. I presume they’ll do the same this year and extend it to election programming.

It’s a bit controversial calling it ‘The Brexit Election’ when it’s supposedly about a lot more than that.

Not controversial when we are only having the election because of Brexit. So understandable to have it framed in that context.

I think branding it as the 'Brexit Election' is becoming more clearly problematic now the campaign has begun and parties have made thier agendas clear. Framing it as such is taking a position, and it is not the position of the Labour Party which wants to talk about other issues, or for example the Green Party which today said this must be the 'climate election'.

Even the circumstances which led to the election being called are a matter of dispute, with Johnson today talking about it being the only way to get his Brexit deal through Parliament with others pointing out that it got through its first reading with a healthy majority (and then others replying that it might not have got further with amendments, and so on...)

It doesn't feel especially impartial and I think more people will soon start to notice it and be vocal about it. Might be in Sky's best interests to quietly drop it and go with a more neutral Vote '19 or something, but I'm not expecting they will.

If News bulletins can be introduced with ‘News-friendly’ Christmas idents, I don’t expect it will be deemed inappropriate for Election coverage.

They’d more than likely fall back on the standard idents if needs must.

The very act of Jeremy Corbyn blitzing Brexit in one day and trying to avoid it ever after is a vindication of it being the Brexit Election. The Green Party claim that leaving the EU is going to be bad for the climate and environment, it's still a central part of their campaign. Considering the policies of the various parties and the timing, I think "Brexit Election" is apt.

It's nice to see branding away from the usual Election / Vote 20xx formula.
