When produced by Princess, Matthew had his own little fiefdom at Whiteleys over the editorial of the show. With ITN putting a bigger emphasis on news over fluff, that might have been enough for him to leave.

I presume Channel 5 will look for a new presenter to present a new show in this slot.
Matt Barbett was very good covering the show in the past.

I've heard from a number of people that he was extremely difficult to work with at Princess and was very controlling over every aspect of the show so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a case of the two sides not getting on since it's been at ITN.

What's Iain Lee up to these days? He'd be a half decent replacement.

This show suffers from that well known and discussed to death problem on here, that the show is named after the presenter!

He was in the papers a month or so ago for "storming off" the Wright Stuff! Matthew had asked him some questions about his marriage he had explicitly said he wouldn't answer before going on and was asked them anyway. Not quite a storm off as he left during an Ad break, but still. Anyway Iain is doing late nights at Talk Radio and recently signed a two year extension so I think unlikely to take it, even though he would be good.

I wonder if this indicates that we'll see a replacement show from ITN, done with either a brand new host or maybe with a team of hosts.

Given that ITN only won the tender relatively recently, I suspect they'll need to re-cast within the existing contract?

Someone else on the GMB cover rota then?

So it's got to be either Steve, Ian or Mark then....

Seriously, the perils of including your hosts name in the title and making it a pun
