Does R2 still go into the news at the TOTH? I guess they could extend the bulletin slightly, and perhaps go straight into a song which should give him another 8 minutes, starting his show after 12?

The hour currently starts with an intro by JV who then crosses to the newsreader without the usual news jingle.

So BBC Radio Two will need a fairly consistent stand in presenter, for that slot when Vine is in Glasgow or on holidays then. Anyone but Feltz.

They need someone used to presenting current affairs programming, fairly relaxed presenting style, and done some live radio speech/music work before.

Matthew Wright, anyone?

I don't understand people's problem with Vanessa Feltz. She can do the programme, she handles the callers pretty well, and I'd say less potentially annoying than Matthew Wright.

She's a lot better on that show where she's got some content to work with than she is on Early Breakfast which tends to sound like an unfocused stream of consciousness whenever I've heard it.

The Radio Today website has even gone as far to mention that it'll take 11 mins by bike to reach Wogan House from GiN.

The same Radio Today, who are based in.. Salford. So they should know about regular traffic conditions in Central London
11 Minutes? At 11.00 am on a weekday morning? Yes, if he gets a clear run down Guildford Street, around Russel Square, and across Tottenham Court Road without being caught by any red traffic lights.

The easiest solution is to start TWS at 9am, finish at 11 which maintains the 120 min quota, but then gives a hour between shows.

I reckon that's what they'll do and just extend the midday news to 10-15 minutes so that the schedule from 12.15-1700 is unaffected.

Why would the Beeb make any concessions for a problem not of their making ?

To ensure the talent remains happy?

Especially if he is one of the presenters they are trying to convince to take a pay cut.

Chris Moyles also used to do his Radio 1 show till 5.45 and then be on Channel 5 at 7pm. Only lasted a few months, that setup...

Does Steve Wright do political/topical stuff on his show like Vine does? I thought he just did celebrity interviews, comedy bits and factoids.

Anyway, given the fact that his publicity photo went unchanged for 20 years and that the Radio 2 webcam was always switched off during his show, I think the likelihood of him wanting to appear in front of a TV camera every day is low…

If Channel 5 wanted to poach one of the BBC's regular weekday, daytime Radio 2 presenters then surely they should have picked the person who's been there forever in the afternoons. They wouldn't even have to change the name of the show then!

I believe that Matthew Wright will be taking up a show in the afternoons on Talk Radio which will more or less be in direct competition (not offering too much I'd have thought) against his Radio 2 namesake.

Serious discussin'.. no G.

Far better letting him go and hiring someone for half the price, even if they'd get slammed for either not hiring a woman or hiring a woman on half the salary.

If I had ( and I often do !) employed a contract worker, on an agreement to provide a service to me, for a fixed term and price, and mid way through the term he tells me he has signed up to provide services to someone else, and could I adjust slightly my scope of works to allow him to fulfil the other engagement with more ease ( for him) I think I’d be a bit narked.

I’m not surprised Matthew Bannister refused to give Chris Evans Fridays off, because of TFI
