Those of us working in or fascinated by Television News will probably be able to recount vision events that have involved our favourite presenters in some capacity. Most of us will have a favourite presenter and most of us will recall a single particular bulletin or event that renders said presenter/newscaster unforgettable. It is this same passion for TV News that brings us daily to these forum boards.

I thought it would be nice to take a daily look at a different TV News presenter - from past or present, from any channel or region, so that we can all share our thoughts and memories and experiences of these individuals who we rely on for our daily digest of News. The daily look will be totally random, and could apply to national, global, regional, terrestrial or satellite channel presenters. Let's share our thoughts and memories with our fellow TV Forum family!

So, here goes.......the first presenter to be catalogued in our TV News Hall of Fame is..........................

SANDY GALL - ITN NEWS AT TEN PRESENTER AND BATTLE SCARRED WAR CORRESPONDENT.

My own personal favourite memory of Sandy is, believe it or not, the incredible mimickry that Rory Bremner used to take him off as. Also, the hideous ties and shirts in a strange pin stripe suit combination. However, Sandy used to deliver the news with authority and high standard.

What do you all remember about him?

Another one to follow tomorrow!

Do you mean frumpy or grumpy? She looks as thoigh she is suckin on a bag o soor plooms in that foto.. (Glaswegians will translate - for anyone remotely interested).

My favourite ever Shereen moment - and don't mean at all to sound macabre - was the evening she appeared on screen with several newsflashes announcing the Lockerbie disaster in 1988.

Shereen was relatively new to newscasting in those days, but did an extremely professional job that night, with the right balance of humanity and sincerity.

Many people will recall the tragic events surrounding the death of the BBC's Jill Dando, newscaster and presenter. But few recall similar tragic cirucmstances that befell today's random name from the hall of fame - Lynette Lithgow.

Lynette presented BBC Weekend bulletins in the 1980's, as well as co-presenting NewsView with Moira Stuart and Richard Whitmore. Along with Moira and Caroline Righton, Lynette also presented the daytime summaries on BBC1 and BBC2 in the 80's. She was a superb presenter - both on network and regional news - with a very distinct dialect. Do any of you recall Lynette on BBC News?

Yes, I remember her well and was very sad when I heard that she'd been murdered. I think I've got a daytime summary on VHS somewhere with her presenting - she was very good. For some reason I've got it in my mind that she did Midlands Today (or possibly EMT) at one point as well. Can anyone comfirm this?

Liza Aziz innit !

Mind you I ain't seen her since her TVAM days, 'cos I tend to avoid SKY News like the plague.

I have enough of the 'gospel according to Murdoch', in print form without watching it as well !
