Whats recorded on the into of ITV news a 6.30?

In this shot, were the camera goes over the news desk, The two newsreaders did NOT have any papers in their hands (The screen shots are different, were a while ago, they did film the news readers with paper in their hands )

They then announce the rest of the headlines, and then we go into this visual.

Then the next following shot of Mark, he does have papers in his hands. So what is recorded? All of the intro? Or just the walk?

As was explained, the screenshots are not from the broadcast in question - just examples of the shots from another site.

It's not uncommon for news programmes to record headlines. Am I right in thinking many of the regional news programmes are done that way?

It's just a bit of careless lack of continuity if the papers in hand or not don't match. Nothing too stressful to worry about.

The intro and headlines on BBC Midlands Today are definitely pre-recorded - actually during the main national news. The 'live' section of the programme begins just after the headlines/ op titles.

When the programme goes 'on the road' you can clearly see the front headlines are prerecorded. The headline sequence in the middle of the Evening News is also prerecorded, because it works out that they must be moving about whilst v/o the headlines... Shocked

A bit like when there is no regional headline the news logo has a streak of light swing through the cubes, but when there is a regional headline in the main headlines there is no streak of light swinging across the four cubes (a la Lunchtime and Late News).

Im not sure about that one, as a few weeks ago, and I got it on video, there was a fault that the coming up stories wasnt playing, and then the camera showed, Mary walkeing into position, and Mark walking to the desk, and the camera was moving quite fast to get into position. Unless thats just a one off... but that was deiffinatley live.

Mary moved as soon as Mark finished the headline, then walked about 2 metres, while the sting sound played, but still showing Mary.

The main daytime bulletins' headlines are recorded. I have sat in the programme room where they press all the funny buttons watching, and Nick Owen had about 3 attempts to record the headlines.

I am not sure of the Morning News and quite obbviously the News Channel don't record theres.

Nah. The middle headline sequence is live. I have the dubious pleasure of sound mixing it. Maybe it really is prerecorded and they just haven't told me Smile
