Trying to catch up with what I don't know. I remember years ago watching breakfast news on BBC One and Justin Webb was one of the main presenters - is he still working with the BBC or has he fled to a digital station? He was good and a warm newsreader to listen to. Also I hear a little rumour that Moira Stuart was doing some recent cover on the 6 O'Clock news and she could be set for a return to weekday newsreading perhaps taking the place of Darren Jordan on the One with Darren being moved over to News 24. As I said a rumour but sometimes the truth is somewhere in the rumours.

For future notice, "tweetypie" this sort of topic is probably better suited to The Newsroom but Justin Webb is currently the main BBC radio correspondent in Washington, and will sometimes appear on TV as well. I doubt that Moira would replace Darren Jordon on the One, and I doubt even more that he would go back to News24, as he was promoted to the main bulletins only about 4-5 years ago. He is unlikely to be relegated to N24, especially with Anna Ford set to retire at the end of the year.

Thanks for letting me know - still finding my feet here - perhaps one of the moderators could move this? I think Moira would be great back on daytime as a main host as she was very addictive to watch in a scary sense. An ideal replacement for Anna Ford? Why does she have such a rough voice??!!
I was looking through some old video tapes and you know that way you tape films from the tv and you collect what seems like crap from before, after and in the middle and it turns out they could be gems? Got a lot of BBC news 24 recordings from the beginning (while the VR days were on terrestrial). Pointless as most probably have lots of this anyway.

Moira Stuart (as well as Breakfast) does the news updates on the Sunday morning political programme (Breakfast with Frost, News 24 Sunday) and she also usually does the Sunday lunchtime summary on BBC1, if you haven't already seen her. That's probably about as much exposure she's going to get on BBC1.

Moira is of course far too busy being Goddess of the World to bother herself with news. All hail the Mighty Moira!

In other words she may be past her sell by date and is on her last legs with the perhaps demotion to something less - maybe Newsround at a push, or worse still local news in Scotland.

Justin is now a radio correspondent in Washington - though he still pops up on TV now and again. (There is more to the BBC than BBC One TV...)

No idea where you heard that... I don't think Moira has presented the weekday Six since it ceased to be in the cut-glass and blue style in the late 90s.

Lovely as she is -I think it unlikely she will present a BBC One flagship bulletin as she is more of a newsreader. She is a talented and popular newsreader, but she is not a journalist, and has no field reporting experience, nor a track record in interviewing.

I very much doubt Darren would return to News 24 - after all he was promoted out of there...

I would imagine Moira will be seen at Xmas maybe, or new year. Don't forget, Moira isn't a journalist strictly speaking - she was, after all, the token black woman newsreader on Radio 4 for a while -- but she's done very well for herself, and I'd imagine she'll slow down and eventually retire over the next few years.

Well if the Big Breakfast was still around she could have made an ideal replacement to Phil Gayle when he left the news.

That is incredibly insulting and patronizing to Moria. No way is Moria a token anything.
