Not much of a surprise, really.
I gather the arrival of Lisa Aswas only generated a second viewer for two or three days, then they went back to watching paint dry, as it was far more interesting.
The words "ship", "rats", "sinking" and "leaving" spring to mind.
The sooner they merge the dreadful Bristol programme into Westcountry Live as a short opt-out, the better for all concerned.

Is this actually planned? The westcountry region is large enough as it is. Would the creation of a region stretching from the Scilly Isles to Swindon ever be sanctioned by OFCOM?!
Surely the most sensible thing to do would be to add the Ridge Hill transmitter to the HTV west region and take on journalists from the Central News South Gloucester office.
Then the remnants of the Central News South region could be merged with the meridian north area to create a thames valley news region based in whitley.

The letter wasn't from a Mr K of Whiteladies Road by any chance?

There is a letter in the Bristol Evening Post tonight, upset that Richard is going after Jenny and the weather girls! It suggests that ITV West News had lost a third of its viewers in the last six months, anyone got any figures to back this up??

That's mathematically impossible, surely?
It would pre-suppose that they had one-and-a-half in the first place.

Ive watched it very occasionally and I must double the viewing figures
Interesting that people are missing Charlie/Emma doing the weather forcasts, they are Central presenters rather than HTV West really, you'd think people would be glad the West have their own weather team of presenters.

Maybe they can make Bob Crampton Richard's replacement, bring back Charlie & Emma for the weekday weather, with Alex Beresford doing it at the weekend. Absurd I know, but it could work(?).
BTW, does Alex ever do the weather in front of the green screen? Every time I've seen one of his forecasts (which hasn't been often), he always does it while standing next to one of the screens in the West Today/Tonight studio.

Ive noticed that as well the few times ive flicked over to ITV West.
Im surprised West and Wales have different weather presenters at the weekend now, even pre 2002 before the weather was centralised we had the same presenter at the weekend on West/Wales.

I'd have thought it more likely for Wales to have its own weekend weather presenter; with West and Westcountry sharing.
After all, Wales has its own Managing Director, or whatever he's called these days, with West and Westcountry sharing one between them.
The old connections between the traditional "HTV" regions have been disposed of nowadays, with Wales as one "chunk" and the area from Gloucester to Penzance as the other "chunk".
The new ITV Plc seems to have no interest in the traditional areas that Ofcom see as franchise areas.
Very wise, however, as Devizes has far more synergy with Fowey than it ever had with Llangollen.
