If Spare Tyres had joined in though the fab-o-meter would have exploded. They may have had to remove the creature comforts bits to reduce the fab to acceptable limits.
I'm not sure why she isn't in it mind as "Mark, Diane and Portillo" would fit perfectly.
Possibly because even during a general election campaign, I think it would be rather embarrassing for an MP standing for election to appear in such a thing (For more details see Neil Kinnock, 1992. "We're alright...")

There's no similarity between the 2...
What made Kinnock's "we're alright" gaffe so spectacularly embarrassing was that it was a speech to a Labour conference.
Not quite the same as someone choosing to appear in a TV show, which you then assume would be regretted.

True, but what I'm talking about is the opposition parties would have a field day seeing a Labour candidate mincing around in such a fashion. Election campaigns are usually cliched and all that but I think that would be just a bit too far... And I don't think the voters would love to see it either!
Due to the Representation of the Peoples Act governing broadcasting in the run up to an election, Diane's had to leave the show for the duration of the campaign, as she is a candidate

Indeed, I went to see one of the shows in the most recent series, and they mentioned that unbelievably they have to spend a relatively equal amount of time mocking the three main parties in the interests of political representation and fairness... I'd imagine it's one of the few occasions when political parties wish they weren't getting free publicity for their policies!
Yes that is a shame, how much fabber could it be with Spare Tyres and Anne Widdecombe ? Now, that would be fab. Why is Al Murray, the pub landlord in there ?
