The frame-rate may have been upped, but the weather on the 1 O'Clock News today looked appalling! The gap between the screens seems to have widened, creating a very distracting line of white light obscuring the map. The picture also seemed a little soft.
On the up-side, they seem to have added a sort of "shimmering" effect to the sea when zoomed in, which looked quite nice.

I noticed that, but it only seemed to be when they were doing a roundup of the weather for coastal resorts.
I take that back. It's used on all the fly-through sequences.

Did it really? I might start looking at the BBC for weather again.
I'm really fed up of being told that the new system is "clearer", when it patently isn't for anyone in the central belt of Scotland.

Isobel Lang did her last shift at the BBC about three weeks ago, but she didn't want any fuss to be made as (in her words) she's still seeing all her friends there, it's just that she's forecasting at a different location..
