I think his name is actually Lembit Opik.

I heard that his nickname in the Commons is somewhat cruelly "anagram" Laughing Laughing Laughing

Delighted as I am to be quoted on the thread's tag-line, as a pernickity English teacher, I'm somewhat less thrilled by the "Your pulling my leg" - which should, of course, be "you're", the contraction of "You are"!

Seems to be a thing of Joel's, to be honest Wink

Thank you for the correction. I now - I suppose - stand corrected!

I noticed ITV have brought the 'UV Sun Care Report' back for the Summer (well on Granada and London anyway), but I couldn't help but notice that both Regions have made use of the technology available to them, by having the map flat, in the style of GMTV Weather if you get my drift, shame it can't be incorporate into ITV Weather all together, as it looks nice and rather more in-depth compared to the standard map.

Some wags have taken to calling him Lemsip Oatcake Laughing Rolling Eyes

Central have re-introduced the UV thing as well as Granada and London. Emma Jesson made a big thing about it on CNE... they are doing it for the next eight weeks, while the sun's strength is at its peak. Well, when it finishes pee-ing it down the sun will be!!

I can't remember the name, but the company has something to do with Conservatories, I haven't caught the sponsorship for London's as they seem to have the Weather a few seconds before Granada, as London has it integrated with London Today/Tonight.

ITV London weather is sponsored by Topps Tiles on weekdays, and the weekend weather is sponsored by Blue Man Group.

Even the clouds must listen to BBC Breakfast weather.

This morning, Matt Taylor predicted that the rain would reach the part of Norn Irn where I live at "around 2pm".

Just as the clocks struck two, the rain began...

I believe all the ITV plc regions (at least) have brought back the UV Sun Care report. They are all sponsored by Appeal, which as mentioned correctly above are a conservatory company. Smile

Is it just me or have the BBC Weather graphics got much smoother like as if they got a better graphics card or something? Its especially noticable when the white info panels slide up and down into view at the start and when the names of different cities slide in from the right.

I noticed that last night, and at first thought I was imagining things. The motion seemed a lot more fluid and less jerky. This morning on Breakfast however, it was back to it's normal judderiness.

My initial thought, which is pure speculation, and probably wrong, is maybe the weather is going HD, and the graphics have had to be improved accordingly.
