No, they have tweaked them. The progress of the rain seems more smooth and less jerky - looks better in my opinion.

BTW, did anyone see Helen Willets' bulletin sometime last week when there was a new opening page. Sorry I haven't mention it sooner but forgot to post it until now. Embarassed
I haven't seen this since though - but from what she said, it was a look at the world weather. Anyone know any more?

(Apologies if this has already been discussed)

The gfx seem a lot more polished tonight - nice sea condition graphics (with reflections into the water), smoother animation, and a new opening screen.

I haven't got a cap of it, but the opening screen consists of a nice summery background with about 5 or 6 of those globe things (there only used to be one on the right of the screen) - all showing different pictures - i.e. deck chair etc, when the forecast starts, the middle globe changes to the earth and zooms out to the whole screen.

Very nice.

Unfortunately they only do this at night, they should during the day. I also think they should go back to recording some of the later bulletins because they seem to screw up a lot, if it's not the graphics it's the forecasters. Rolling Eyes

Hurrcane Katrina, a category 5 storm (ie, the highest on the scale - there have only been 3 other category 5 storms since records began) is expected to hit New Orleans tomorrow with two feet of rain and winds of up to 175mph.

Have a look at the BBC Weather 5 day forecast for New Orleans.

Monday: Rain. Wind Southerly 15mph, visibility moderate.

The BBC can't agree with itself on forecasts.

Last night, online it was forecasting sunshine and 20c for where I live, whereas on BBC and N24 it was forecasting rain (as was ITV).

It did get it sort of right by hedging: it was sunny at times, cloudy most of the time, and rained after about 5pm...

AND PLEASE.... does ANYONE know whether BBC forecast presenter John Hammond is the brother of Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond?

What just happened there on BBC One when Helen threw her hands to her mouth, gasped aloud and got cut off, all before the report had finished?! Very dramatic, great Bank Holiday viewing, was it simply that she ran out of time, only suddenly realising or something?

She over-ran on the network forecast and was cut off by the automation but was still on air elsewhere.

Just wondering does anyone have any caps of the hurricane graphics (if any)

Did she make any apology or explanation for her gasp? Would've loved to have seen how she rescued the broadcast from that, great television moment!

Why would she be on air elsewhere?

She was possibly looking at her off-air monitor (BBC ONE London/England) at the time that she vanished. However, it seems that she was still on air on BBC ONE Northern Ireland and potentially also in Wales and Scotland.
